My gear all matches, and it matches my bike.  I guess I'm a squid, too.

I agree that's it's not important that things match, but pretty much every piece of gear comes in pretty much every major color, and I can't think of a good reason to go out of my way to not much.  I like the color blue, dammit.  People who are militant about their not-matching or not being fashion conscious seems just as shallow and fashion-driven as people who have to match.

As for my bike, well, it was getting painted anyway...

I agree...  Trying THAT hard to not match is just as silly as trying THAT hard to match.

Yes... I'm silly...  Yellow is a hard collor to find.

I'm a dark color person...so everything pretty well matches no matter what I'm wearing.  My favorite gettup is my camo cargo pants (real heavy REAL denim), blacks boots, black jacket with blue and white reflective stripes, black gloves and black helmet.  Obviously, black bike.

bubba zanetti

Well I'm going to keep wearing black gear till they come up with a darker colour  :icon_mrgreen:

You're supposed to put patches on yourself... not buy them from the store already attached to the jacket. That would be LAME.  :o You are supposed to make the patches urself while ur in jail, or come across them in your gnarly lifestyle, or rip them off of other people's jackets in bar fights.

Nice bike...

i like that hemet. i'm not much for denim jackets, i prefer leather or cortek and leather, just gotta have leather in the abrasion areas. i was taught mesh shreds, cortek slides, but leather keeps the skin on your a$$.

My Gear:

On fun rides or decent rides where i can carry spare jeans i ride in, two piece zip together frank thomas leathers in blue/black/white. And no i don't care that they match because i bought them as a set, i also wear black/blue Nitro boots which match too lol. Originially they matched my bike when it was blue but now it is bright green/silver so i don't match but i see it as a bonus so i stand out even more with contrasting leathers.

When in rain i ride in waterproof textile pants in black and waterproof textile jacket in yellow/black. They were excellent in rain till i started riding off road in them and had to put them in the wash and they lost their waterproofness which i can't seem to get back no matter how much i treated them. The trousers are still pretty waterproof and i wear them still, the jacket is in the cupboard now.

When commuting to school i used to wear my textile jacket the yellow one, and dress shoes and trousers. As the dress code at school was basically a shirt or suit type dress. Eventually i decided that the lower half of me would be completly ground away if i fell off and the roads to school are not good condition for riding at all really being all country roads with mud and gravel, also i got wet through in rain. Now i wear my blue leather jacket, black textile pants over my dress trousers and wear my Nitro boots, and carry my shoes in my rucksack. I feel much safer and don't get as wet now, only problem is my leathers are all perforated for summer days so in long rain or heavy rain i get wet eventually.

O and my helmet is an AVG in white, yellow, orange, red, blue, silver, gold - every colour pretty much.

Nah I never got around to joining, but I was telling my brothers in-law about the UFOB's on the weekend after our ride & that they'd also be ideal perspective members.

I've got their web page bookmarked.  :thumb:

I happened to buy my first bike yellow (that is my beloved GS500E). I had to buy all the gear new so I got yellow helmet, jacket, gloves. But my overpants and boots are black. So I can be called "in style" I guess. You can see my avatar, it looks good to me.

For me keeping some sense of style on a bike is important. But it is secondary to safety and comfort. If I had a black bike I won't be dressing all black for sure.

I am all about safety and comfort on a bike. I must be visible on the road. Yellow is perfect for that. I like yellow color in general. I love my 3-layer Cortech GX mesh jacket, my first season proved it to be super comfy, warm, safe and convenient. I have a dress code at work so the jacket and overpants fit perfectly over my office cloth. I transform from a road warrior into an office bean in 10 seconds.

I remember my first days on a bike on public roads (after 15+ years driving only cars). You feel pretty much naked. Very discomforting feel of being exposed and vulnerable. Good clothing helps reduce that mental discomfort. What others think about your gear is somewhat important I guess. I am happy to see that people around me (at work, 'hood, family) dig my outfit. I see people turn heads when I ride by (hope it's not "What an idiot!" type of interest LOL). The family jokingly call me the yellow Power Ranger. One big plus is that I don't have to buy a Halloween costume no more!

Gear is a personal thing. For me I'll take "dress for crash" over "dress to impress" any day. It's great when you can have both.  How you dress and what you ride shows a lot about you.
But that's just me, I am originally from Europe. LOL

Jughead, did you already get the helmet? I'm curious to know how you like it while riding. I got an icon alliance (in blue) and i'm not too thrilled with it. The chinstrap is far more comfortable that my old one, i'll give it that, but i've already had lots of trouble with my facesheild. the right side clip will undo itself and that side of the facesheild will pop out when i pull it down. and it is suuuuper noisey, even compared to my old shoei (and when i say old, i MEAN old, it was a '95).  theres quite a few more qualms i have with it but i'd like to know what your thoughts are on it.
