what makes this better.  Better yet what kinda performance upgrade does it make

Removal of the airbox allows for much easier access and removal of the carbs. My bike dynoed at 41.7 HP and that was jetted lean. With a proper jetting it would proably crest 42. It takes away some of your bottom end (theoretically) and adds to the top end. My bike's peak power was at 9500 RPM, rather than the 9000 RPM that stock bikes have. It provides a wonderful change in the intake noise, kinda like a growl on accelleration.

damn 41hp. i dyno at 35hp

but thats on the gsxr1000 can and the drop in k&n , but no rejet. after the Jardine and i guess i wil also go to lunch box, and then have it dynoed again.

when rejeting, what is the best way other than having it on the dyno to test jets?

i was thinking about geting a O2 sensor and meter and using it to tell me whats going on.  crazy or good idea?

The best way is to first make the main jet too rich to see the bogging and then go down until it disappears. Then needle or mid-jet and finaly pilot jet. This way you will be on a rich side which is good for the motor, but not too rich to cause problems. However if you want max power you will have to go leaner and only dyno can tell you the right setup then.

Anyone care to give a brief description of what XX/XX/XX represent in the carbs exactly and what bigger or smaller numbers mean?

Check the FAQ or the Wiki, but in short:

'89-'00
pilot jet/main jet

'01+
pilot jet/mid-main jet/main jet

Bigger numbers = bigger holes = more fuel

thx, I'll try it, if I find jets since sudco sells only fours  now

common sense

A couple questions, I'm rejetting an 06

Is the mid main the same style jet as the mains? (I'm trying to find that part number as its not listed on the wiki, or anywhere else on the board I've seen)

Also, according to the wiki, for  01+ models, the main is N102.221. Is this correct, because the guy I talked to at Sudco told me it was the N100.604.

Then for the pilot, I have N224.103 (from the wiki) which the Sudco rep agreed with.

Hope those are clear questions.

cool, thanks for the response. I'm planning on trying lunchbox, stock exhaust, 20/62.5/142.5.

do you by chance have any jets left from your purchase? I knew you had to buy 4, but I didn't realize it was 4 of each size.

im sure i asked this before but i never really got a good answer. I'm rejetting an 04 with pod filters and a bassani slip-on(flows better than stock) i was looking at doing 22.5/65/147.5. my bike now runs good even with the slipon and stock intake and stock jets but not much pull in 1st gear(but that is where the 15t comes in when ever i get it in the mail).

When I bought mine they would still sell two of one size. I've got the 20/62.5/142.5 jets I ran for 4000 miles with the stock exhaust...

I'll take those of your hand if you're willing to part with em
