bad day bad day.

i noticed that i have a screw in my back tire. im not sure if it can be fixed because its like right in the tread (or fixed at all?) not sure. anybody have any ideas on that? i can sipher through the numerous tire postings for suggestions if i need a replacement, but just wondering what you guys thought about fixing it if possible at all?

also. the suzuki emblem came off today too! ahhh! bad day! hah. its the one on the left side. im pretty sure i can order it of bikebandit, but does anyone know if that's just a "sticker" or what? how do i apply it? i still have the old one thats kinda dinged up, how could i put that back on?

thanks in advance.

and here's to better days!

With less than 50 mi on my new tires, I got a screw in the rear.  It was in the tread (not in the groove) and I pulled it out, expecting it to go flat.  Turned out that the screw was shorter than the depth of the tread, so it wasn't actually punctured.  No problems since.

Here is the part# for the logos at the bikebandit site. I ordered some a couple months ago. 68233-01d00 That number should be correct. Yeah, I got a nail in my tire today. Mine is in the tread but I do not know how deep it is because I haven't pulled the nail out yet. Hope I can plug it but don't know if that is the best idea. Never faced this before. Good luck on your tire.

oh yeah, I forgot. The logo is a sticker. It is self-adhesive and if you look at the bottom of the logo, there is a little tick mark. When you get the new ones, line up that mark with the notch on the new logo. I pulled my old logos off with a toothpick. Good luck!

I put a tube in it. Happened many times...and Tube it and put many 1000 on it. But remember your tire is now rated only V or whatever that is that is up to 109 mph...
Cool.

Rated to "only" 109mph?  Do many people have a lot of problems with their GS going *over* a true 109mph  ;)

A friend of mine was showing off the capabilities of his GSXR750 with a friend of his on the back.  He hit a bolt of some kind going a little of 200 (kms) and blew up his rear tire.

I have to say that the quality of his tire saved his life that day, cuz' the tire  stayed together and he was able to stop the bike safely.

Anyways, the point is that it was a fairly new tire, and ha called the manufacturer and negotiated a deal on a replacement tire.

Thry it out, at worst, you'll lose 10 minutes trying to plead your case.  At best, you'll get a cheaper replacement tire.

I picked up a screw at bout 3,500 miles.  When I heard the price of a new rear tire and the labor to put it on I got pissed.  I found this stuff called Ride On on the Internet.  It  stayed liquid and it worked.  I ride in the winter and it never froze.  I changed the tire at over 9,000 miles.  I had confidence in this stuff and never gave it a second thought.

I think the local dealer wanted about $225 with the labor.
You can buy a rear tire from Motorcycle Tire Planet for about $100 with shipping.  It takes about a week.  Suzuki wanted about $130 if I remember correctly.  Try the Ride On.    I was a little paranoid for the first couple of days.  Afterwards I forgot it was there.  I had the bike up to an indicated 100 mph on a few occassions and never gave it a thought.  The way I see it if the stuff never turns into a solid it has to work.  It's not like a plug or patch that will fall off.  The worst that can happen is that it will ooze out.  Which it never did.
