so i installed a GSXR 600 shock from an 01-03 bike ..... i used a set of custom dogbones to lower it so that is at stock height when on the centerstand but as soon as i take it off the stand it sits really low and as soon as i sit on it its really soft even with the compression and tension at full hard. is there something wrong herei though the gsxr shock was supposed to be almost too stiff for street use it is a bit better than the stock one but not much. any ideas on what i can do to make it stiffer?

It should have compression, rebound, and preload adjustments.  Start here: www.peterverdonedesigns.com/introduction.htm
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

How much do you weigh?

How much preload?

There's a good chance that the shock is either blown or just out of nitrogen.  You can try recharging it at most speed shops or pick mine up for cheap:

Maybe the dog bones are designed badly, or they do not work correctly on GS?

Either the springs been changed, or adding the 1 inch longer dog bones increased the leverage enough to negate the benefit of the stiffer shock, you still have rebound and compression dampining   :icon_lol:

Is using the lowering dogbones the only way to make that shock work??? I just tried to install an 01 gixxer 600 shock and it was too fat to clear the swingarm...

Using the gix pivot linkage provides the clearance needed.
