A new way to fix my high idle

I have read for a while all the ways to eliminate the fast idle that just won't drop. It use to occur after being warm, usually after 15 minutes. I rejetted it to help, no dice. I changed the plugs, no dice. Well, I rebulit the carbs one more time and discovered the brass pieces for the rubber cross over tubes  between the carbs was loose in each carb. I am talking about the brass piece that is suppose to be swagged into each carb, and then each brass piece connected by a rubber hose with a Tee in it that goes to the smog crap. Well, those brass pieces were loose. I put silicone around the brass pieces before reinserting them back in the carb, and no more hanging idle. I adjusted the idle down, so it idles properly with the choke on, and is only slightly high at normal idle. My wife is very happy now. I changed the tires to Sport Demons in stock sizes and cleaned it up. It has about 12,000 miles on it with minimal rust, good bodywork and paint, and it runs good. The forks are very soft and are also leaking, so I will have to work on that soon. Thanks again for all the advice, now I might need to add a fairing of some sort to keep the wind off my wife on the fwy. Oh, it is a purple bike with pinkish decals (this is why my boys won't ride it!), but my wife loves it. Maybe I will see some of you out riding here in the So. Cal  mountains. Just look for the ULEWZ on the plate frame on a silver FZ1.
