This is the bell housing on the older M46 (see there is no notch and an extra relief on the left side looking at it, right side of the tranny.)

this is the bell housing to the newer M46 (with the notch and no relief)

actually figured it out. the older one has a 3.71:1 and the newer has a 4.03:1  not much change really

3.71 = 14.939...mph @2870rpm which is the same RPM at 70.157...mph in OD
4.03 = 13.752...mph @2870rpm "

I will be mating this all to a 3.73 axle. which is where I got the above ratio's from using the wheel and tire size of 195/60/R15 which is almost the same as the 185 stock tire and wheel size.

I'm glad you figured it out, because I didn't even see a question.
