I just recently bought a Joe Rocket Atomic Riding Jacket because I wanted more protection while riding.  however, now when I ride, I feel alot more wind and it feels like I'm going to get blown off the bike.  Kinda a scary feeling.  Any suggestions or tips?  It has hard padding in the back and elbows.  I hate to remove them, but if it helps I will.  I really feel the wind catching me at 50 mph.

So it feels like you're catching more air with the JR Atomic than whatever you were wearing before?  Like you're a big sail now?  Weird.

I've got the same jacket and don't have that problem.  I also have a small, ugly windshield on my bike which probably helps.  But I ride at 70+ mph sometimes and never feel like I'm getting blown off or anything.  Good luck!

The windshield/fairing helps a lot.  I felt the same way before I got my little fairing.  There are some really cool ones out there. I wish I had waited.  I like mine and all... BUT...   ;)

Is the jacket too big for you?  It should fit snug to your body to prevent it's slipping if you go down.  It helps to keep the armor in place.

Whatever you do, do not remove the armor.  What were you wearing before you got this jacket?

its an XL.  I wanted to make sure it would be big enough.  It doesn't fit tight .  I feel like a big sail on a boat.  Also, I do have a fairing on the front.  I'm finding myself trying to crotch down behind it now.  I'll leave the armor in.

If its too big that's gonna stink. I just bought it! AHG! I may have a blue, black  and white jacket for sale...

before that I was only wearing a sweatshirt..

Try wearing a backpack with sternum and waist straps.  It will help keep the jacket tight against your body.  But remember, it won't keep the padding in position if you go down, so the jacket's impact protection is significantly decreased.

Different companies' jackets don't fit the same for the same size (XL for example).  I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket in XL.  It fits me well and I am 5'10", 230 lbs., 38" waist. 46" chest.  If you are significantly smaller than that, an XL is probably too large.

A large number of people buy motorcycle gear too large for them.  Jackets and helmets.  They should be snug, but not too tight.  They need to be snug to protect you in a fall.  Too loose and they won't do their job.  Just think, how many professional racers do you see with their leathers flapping in the wind so they would be more comfortable?
