not sure what you mean by harmonic vibration... that sounds like some Mayan calendar raver hippies I used to know :flipoff: No seriously, at 7-8k the sound is like VREEEEEEEEE even with earplugs, and the vibration is definitely there. After a longer ride esp. on twisties there is some leftover tingling and numbness in my hands, and if I'm carrying a girl on the back she says her hands are tingly/numb too  :o for a while. With the drag bars it was even worse, now I have stockers on there.

I suspect this is a stock situation thus it hasnt really bothered me, like it was something really wrong with it. Maybe it could be improved...

I just ordered a new air filter element too... maybe I should consider upgrading filters but not sure I want to rejet and replace exhaust and all that crap.

i'd say between 6-9k depending on how quickly i want to move.

Witnessing this thread I can see that I tend to the mild side of the Tach, probably around 5-7K.  NightRider and I may be kindred spirits.

Oh, and my ride starts to buzz at around 5200, steading out around 6200.  Or at least 6200 is when the mirrors become useable again.   :)

Around town, particularly at night, I try to stay around 5k.

When I'm in a good mood and its nice out, maybe 7k.

On the highway I usually try to keep the revs lowish just because I feel like I'm wasting gas otherwise. Maybe 4-6k.

I shift at about 5-7k unless I'm in a hurry or feel like moving fast. Most of the time I just mosey along at about 4.5-6k...I'm after the gas mileage, not the dust behind me after all.
In this world of ups and downs, it's nice to know there are jackalopes around.

fully stock right now and i shift about 6-7K

I'm all stock except for a drop in K&N.  I dunno maybe it's just me but I'm not happy if I'm not pullin G's so i usually shift at about 8k  unless there's a tard in a honda next to me then I just wail it out so I can wait for like ten minutes at the next light and laugh at him for wasting all that money on a stupid car when he coulda spent a tenth the cash for a bike that leaves it in the dust.  for example the ducati 999r dusts a lambo gallardo all around more than a second faster in 0-60 and ran .4 seconds faster on a mile track.  ducati 999r :   16,000 dollars  Lambo Gallardo: 250,000 dollars.

noticed after a 60 mile ride on country roads at higher rpms I returned 5-10 mi higher mpg average. was more like 45-50 mpg rather than 32-38. Whether this is due to the higher rpm or straighter than stoplight roads, not sure, but I likes it.  :icon_mrgreen: someone mentioned it's jetted lean at higher rpms, which makes me thing the lower rpm shifting i have always done has been costing me gas.

We have a previous post, just for you SpcTerry -- have a look at Wanna Race to the End of the Runway?

Just in case the link is stale (it didn't work for me just now), try this link to the porscheR1avion.wmv video (Windows Media Player)

Cheers.

That's great. i'd do that in a heartbeat.  I have found that outside of the vettes and porsches even my little GS can dust almost any car off the line.    The Porsche is a mean machine,  a guy in my neighborhood has a 911 turbo, it's just insane how fast that thing goes!!!!!!!  I'm a speed junkie I guess.   When I reenlist this summer I'm buying a new bike,  thinking 998r  or if the bonus is right I might try for that 1098 Duc put out.  Probably keep the GS though for daily use.   you can bet when that happens I'm gonna be looking for an Air Force Base so I can find something to race.
