Ever since the pic of the Hyosung comet got posted I have had the little wheels turning...   Is anyone else on the same page as me?  how much would a dumped SV fetch?  65 HP stock and 310lbs?  I found a guy in RI that sells them, anybody wanna buy my GS?

If the engine is a stressed member in the SV how do you suppose they mounted it in the GS frame?

please help, cant sleep.

What's the point of putting an SV motor in the GS frame...even if you got it to fit...the SV frame is lighter, stronger, prettier, stiffer and ...
BTW Please go to hosung.com...No wheels need be turning...that is a 250 Vtwin and that blooming bike is pretty big for a 250.
How do I know that...Well their 250 cruiser...I have stood next to it in person...evidently it has a 11.3:1 compression and runs like a 600 (according to the sales dude) ...Which 600?? Maybe some 1908 600 Hendee or antiquated crap like that. BTW that 250 is almost as big as a 650 Vstar (well certainly bigger than the 650 savage or my 535 virago) Yea the Comet is a 250 V-twin albeit a 11.3 to 1 air cooled  :? motor (isn't there a reason the Jap manufacturers didn't put such high compressions in their air cooled motors even with a oil cooler) in a GS sized (atleast) frame...and the GS will kick it right into Kim Jong Ilk's arse To say nothing about reliability and longevity.
Cool.

OK those sneaky Koreans have added a 650 to their site since I saw it last (Monday or tuesday) but its not in the GS frame...More like the SV frame.

bleah... the lines just look *wrong*.
Besides that, there is more than just sqeezing the motor into the frame that you have to worry about.  lining up the sprockets and chain path, redesigning the tank to encorporate an airbox (the SV engine is downdraft), and fore-aft, left-right weight bias.

You are better off just buying a crashed SV and restoring it.

I wouldn't mind swiping that fork of the Hyosung thought...

But restoring a crashed SV isn't near as much fun! When you're done, you have - a SV, same as everyone else.

I do think it would actually be easier to build a new frame around a SV engine, than trying to modify the GS frame. It is a nice engine, and the SV frame isn't super rigid as it is. Some improvements could be made: maybe a Hossack front end to lighten it up, with 5 degrees of rake to make the boys talk; some better control over the rear drive shock compression; a Ducati style steel trellis frame would be pretty...
