Looks like mostly cosmetic stuff. Why aren't you replacing the front forks? That should be the first thing to do if you plan to race the GS. What about a larger rear wheel? Wouldn't you want to be able to get sticky rubber for cheap?

Ya, my budget track prep list would be as follows

Kat rear shock
USD forks
Kat rear wheel
Pilot Powers
Clip ons
Exhaust/lunchbox/rejet
Remove center stand
Strip all plastic
..:: '05 GS500 :: Hindle Can :: Kat rear wheel  :: Kat Shock ::..
..:: Fairingectomy :: Never been laid down mod ::..

Gonna have to agree with those two.  Although you've given your GS a unique look  it doesn't seem like you've done anything to actually improve it's performance.  You can have your bike look all pretty like it does, or you can focus on performance.  guaruntee she'll look ten times prettier when you're dusting the competition!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I just have front racetech straight rates and sticky tires. Aside from that crash bars and practice is your best bet.
Rich, RIP.

What purpose does the "German Tail Jack-up Kit" serve for racing? Looks like a poser mod to me. I would not something that would raise my center of gravity.
Common sense in not very common.

No? I'd see no problem raising the rear 1/2" for better turn-in.

Thoughts?

Flame on!

You obviously don't know what the "German Tail Jack Up" mod is. Pretty much all German street fighters have this done to them:

Or more dramatically:

On a race bike? He just wants a bike that looks cool, it seems.

No, the jackup kit lifts the end about 2" or so, for better turning. Not for posing.

I want the fairing for the unique look, yes.

Its not going to be a full on race bike, i dont want to go into that completely because i allready compete in other forms of racing that take up too much money as it is. I want a bike i can mess about on around the streets, around local twistys - Hence the fairing for wind protection, to turn up at meets and have people say "Oooh whats that then?" etc, and get interest back into the GS5, and also something i can throw R&G's on and take to a few track days :)

Stuff like USD's and that will come later when i see how well the other bits go.

Raising the tail does nothing for turning. It does put more of your weight on the front wheel.  Raising the rear suspension does. These are two different things.

Having Germans changing the cosmetics of just about anything seems like a bad idea.

I'm not sure what race you plan on putting that list of items together for, but I don't think it's a race that's going trackside.

That's not a race bike project.  That's a cafĂ© poseur bike project, which is fine in and of itself.  Just b e realistic with your titles.

Also, try actually doing some of these mods before you show us photoshop "sneak peeks".

Ouch!! :o  harsh but true don't go around showing people what your bike will look like, just actually do the Mod!!!!  or atleast learn to photo-edit a little better, or get a Mac, even a tard can put out some slick editing with a Mac. And if you plan on running around on the local twisties, seriously consider re-allocating your funds into better suspension.  But other than that it'll be a slick poseur bike!!!! :thumb: :thumb:

Hey!!!! I wasn't trying to be an ass!!!  To each his own,  if you want a bike that has a very unique look and grabs attention then A+, get us some pics when you actually have it done.   So to rephrase my previous posts in a more sensitive manner:  "  That's a sharp looking bike, but just because you make it look like a race bike doesn't mean it will be.  There is a lot more to a fast bike.  Personally I would rather have a bike that doesn't grab your attention until you're staring at my taillights as they get smaller and smaller"   The whole Mac thing was a plug, My step-brother runs a retail store and gave me a Macbook under the condition that I promote them every chance I get. Not bad for me I get a $2k computer and all I have to do is show it off :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Right, firstly... theres no need to moan at anyone - this is the first place ive posted that ive got critisism. Im glad of that, i wanted it more than anything.

Basically the photoshop was where it all started, so i posted that up as my aim/target if you will. Not as a "sneak peak". We all know it wont end up that way.

And yes - Gixxer6 fairings is easy to say, nothing is set in stone. Its a project, things change etc.

The german jack up kit - is basically a small little odment that i may or may not bother with.

Like i said, its for street posing, doing something different with a GS500 because i love them so much, nothing wrong with that. And so i have a bike that i can take for a few track days. As i have allready said, i race speedway and grasstrack (Probably called Flat Track or something over there in the states), so thats where my "Racing" happens. Trackdays are something i have got interested in the last year or so, and after going to one the other week i realy fancy having a stab at it, but not on my SV, its too new.

So this is a cracking excuse to do something realy unique with my GS5 that i love :)

Now tell me you cant understand my reasons or see the point?

:)

spc

A+ on creativity!!  that's a very sharp and unique look!!!  It's awesome that you want to keep your GS around and put that kind of time into it :thumb: :thumb:  I've got my own fairly extensive plans for my GS  :icon_twisted:  Most of them involve laughing at my buddy on his HD 1200 Sportster as I dust his ass!!
