Why would you need a passport to get onto a base that should be part of the U.S.? Is there something special about that Hawaiian base that makes it a foreign country??  :dunno_white:

sorry for the off topic, but this kinda bugged me.

Alpha, you're giving him guff for his grammar, yet in another thread you said
Quotei am n ur char
wtf? this is a public forum, not a writing contest. I was an english major, but this is a relaxed environment so i generally don't go back and grammar check my posts because i know it doesn't matter. Hipocrasy is idiotic. I notice you making remarks like that every once in a while and in my opinion it's freaking annoying.

Alpha's grammar is fine.  "i'm in ur char" is an old internet joke.  He did not make it up, he was merely making an inside joke that you didn't pick up on.

My favorite is "i'm in ur fridge, drinkin ur beerz"

as far as the passport goes i was thinking the same thing. I dont know why i need one he said i just do. grammer i suck at it was never good at english i missed calss most of the time. :flipoff:

and in case you have not read it yet READ this
Dear Grammar Police,

Just in case you have not yet realized it, this is a casual Internet forum about motorcycles. It is not a scholarly journal, term paper, or a literary work of any importance. You are not being graded, and you are not my English teacher. It is simply a laid back online forum for people to hang out, post stuff, etc. Everyone should feel comfortable posting, right?

I personally find it obnoxious when someone "corrects" my spelling or grammar. You know what I mean, so why call me, or anyone else, on it? Are you trying to make them feel like a degenerate? Why do you feel the need to proove how smart you think you are? I'm not impressed.

Do you correct the speech of those around you? I hope not, because just like on here it only makes you come off as pompous and condescending. Almost no one - except maybe foreigners   - speak true, proper English. Our dialect is casual. Get over yourself.

Would a quick read through / spell check / preview hurt before posting? Of course not. But is it really that important? No, it isn't.

If you want to be all anal about your own posts, that's great. Keep on keepin' on.

And if you don't like it, you can suck my pencil. Beeyotch.

Phaedrus

PS - G'head - Look it over for a typo or a spelling error, but I've got better things to do

Phae's message seems pretty clear:

I think it's pretty damned appropriate in this instance.  Phae's messages and heart live on in many ways.  :kiss3:

And I wasn't giving him guff about his grammar. I was giving him guff about his punctuation, or lack thereof.

There is a difference between causual conversation with honest grammatical errors and talkin liek this and making it honestly difficult to read.

I think if you choose to forego punctuation, you're just asking for a comment about it, so no whining.

I don't think most folks try to make their posts difficult to read. I think we have some who are so enthusiastic that their words flow out of their fingers very quickly, and there are others who simply haven't had the close encounters with grammar-nazi teachers that some of us have had.

I'll be honest. I can't make it through a whole post by mach1. The spelling/grammatical errors combined with a lack of punctuation just make it frustrating. No offense dude, but I can't read your shaZam!!

And the whole "Im in ur place verbin ur nounz" is an ooollllllld internet joke. Check out knitemare.org/cats, you'll understand.

And I really don't like the quoting of Rich.. but whatever.
