Anyone own a Shoei and Scorpion helmet?

I really dig the Scorpion exo 700, but they aren't available in Canada.  Even though the site has a Canadian national sales manager listed, he hasn't  signed up any of the local shops yet (I've mailed them and it's a no go).

Anyhow, I'm willing to roll the dice and order one if someone can confirm that a Shoei RF1000 small (and HJC AC-11 extra small if you've tried one) head will maybe fit a Scorpion exo 700 small?  I know it really depends on the shape but without being able to try one on I'm going to have to go with similar sizing experience between helmet manufacturers.

Thanks all!

Hey Sys49152,

I had the same problem as you trying to get my mitts on the Scorpion EXO400. So I ended up getting an HJC AC-12... Turns out NewEnough.com just started selling Scorpion helmets this past month. And they ship to Canada!!

Here's a link to their Scorpion inventory:

Not sure of which all of the manufactures that use different shell sizes specific to the helemt size. Shoei does but HJC does not. I had a x-small HJC (HC-11 I think) and the shell was almost the size of my large Shoei. Something to check into.
Common sense in not very common.

I wear a Scorpion, and I couldn't wear a Shoei anything... Nothing from Shoei, HJC, or anyone else fit my heead. :dunno_white:

Thanks for the info all.

I guess I really should try it before buying it.  I could still order a size from NewEnough, and if it doesn't fit pay the shipping back and try another size.  But if it doesn't fit my head, then I'm out of luck I guess.  I could always sell it locally.  I don't think that would be a problem.

At that price It's worth the risk.  I'm going to try out the small.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

I'm not sure really.  The hats I usually wear have the adjustable strap.  I have one hat that's marked "S-M", so small-medium?  Measuring my head, I'd be a small according to the Scorpion sizing sheet.

The Shoei's fit me best.  HJC fits ok.  Arai's pinch the top of my head a bit too much.  I haven't tried any of the other brands.

Scorpions sizing chart is very true to size...They use the same shell size from xs - medium and large-xlarge so if you needed to size up/down you could always order the new padding set  :dunno_white:

Bingo! That's the thing to do regardless of the brandname.

I must have tried - as in put them on my head in the showroom - 18 different helmets from 4 brands before settling with the RF1000 in Medium.

Pricey thing, but what's my head worth? More than I paid for sure!

I agree with your last comment and StarWalt.  You need to be sure of your size and that of the manufacturer to have confidence in buying the right fit of Helmet.

Here is a link to a good web site on Buying the Correct Motorcycle Helmet.  There's a page that offers a sizing band you can print out to get your size.  Suggest you use it to find what should fit, then go to a dealer and see if it is right.

Buy over the internet if you must, but be sure of your size before you put your money down.

RedShift, great link - thanks.

Although I agree with you and starwalt that there is no substitute for trying on the helmet, it's just not possible in this case unless I make a trip down to Buffalo and find a local dealer that carries the brand.  It might be worth the trip though, rather than playing the try-and-ship-back game with an online retailer.
