The local dealer is trying to charge me $70 for this. That's how much it cost me to have all 4 tires on my car mounted and balanced!
Is this normal?

I don't go to the dealer, but my local shop I go to charges no more than 1 hr rate  $45.

Hi there,
It sounds high to me, too, because I pay $15-20 to have tires mounted at my local independent motorcycle shop.
But there is a caveat here.
Is the price you were quoted $70 for taking your bike in, having the dealer pull the rear wheel, mounting and balancing the new tire, and then re-installing the rear wheel?
Or is that the price you were quoted if you bring in the wheel off the bike and have them mount and balance the new tire for you?
If it's the first scenario, it sounds high to me.
If it's for the second scenario then they are insane and you should stop giving them any of your money.
It's easy to pull the wheel and then reinstall it so you can save yourself a lot of money by doing that.
Good luck, and let us know what happens.

Best wishes,

At my local shop I paid $24 to have my front tire mounted and balanced. I would search for a better deal.

The $45 at my shop is everything......drop the whole bike off and come back and it's ready!!!

I found someone who can do it for $40, this includes taking the wheel off and putting it back on afterwards.
