Hello all,

I am having problems with my bike and am hoping someone with similar experience can guide me in the right direction.  I recently cleaned the carbs and now when I start the bike and it finally begins to idle ok (12-1400 rpm) when I open the throttle there seems to be somewhat of a lag after I release it for the engine to come down again.  It stays reved up for too long.  NO, its not the throttle cable I checked and its smooth.  I feel like it has something to do with the carbs but not sure how to approach it.  Any ideas?

I appreciate the help in advance

It sounds like you're running lean, that can cause the the RPM to hang up on decel.

The first thing I would check would be the rubber boots between the carbs and the engine.  Next, check the vacuum ports and vacuum caps.  Make sure you put the little O-rings under the vacuum caps back.  After that, check the diaphragms for tears and check to see that the slides aren't sticking.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

It is a 2000 gs.  I think that everything on the carbs is stock.  I will look into all the things you guys mentioned tomorrow.  Hope it gets my bike running well again.

thanks
