idle shooting up after riding for 10 minutes or so

my bike idles from cold startup just fine.  I ride it for 5-10 minutes an the idle shoots up to 3k, an won't come down from there.  whats my problem?  I tried a full tank of gas with some seafoam, but that doesn't apear to have fixed anything.  any suggstions?

Turn down your idle screw, you might have to choke it to start but thats fine. You should always idle higher when its warmed up than when it started cold or am i wrong?

I had this problem and I just rode it long enough to get it completely warmed up then adjust the idle screw. After being choked for about 1min or two in the morning and then unchoking it my bike will usually idle about 1-1.2k rpms. After I ride it for a bit the idle will be about 1500rpms. I think it's set pretty good. It will idle all day at 1200 if I wanted to set it at that but it sounds a little rough so I turned it up to 1500rpm which is alot smoother.

This happened to me.  In my case the choke cable was sticking.  Since then I've used a lot of wd-40 to degunk the cable, but it still isn't perfect

I've got a similar problem with my bike and from doing a lot of reading, and some inspection, I think my problem is due to air leaking in at the intake between the carb and the cylinder head.  This causes the bike to lean and raises the rev's.  Leaks elsewhere (between filter box and carbs and somewhere on the carb body (balancing nipple, vacuum nipple) can cause the same problem. 

I've seen suggestions of spraying wd40 on those various places to see if that affects the revs, if so you've got a leak.

The above post have it right on the head

1. Your choke cable is stuck, try tanking of the choke cable at the carbs and see if the choke slide is held in at all, or you can reach your fingers in on the right side and pull on the choke slide towards you and see if that helps.

2. You have air leaks, best place to start looking is missing vacuum caps on the carbs, or a leak between the carb and cylinder head
