So last night I log in to AKO ( Army Knowledge Online) with the intent of going to iPERMS (personnel records) to see if my actual discharge came through.  Before I got to that I noticed that all of my status codes were green, odd since most were amber before ( I didn't feel like going on my own time to get a new physical )  Then I see that message in my inbox  "ETS suspended due to stop-loss"  f%$k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Well, I called Top first thing this morning and he's looking into it.  He agrees that it's not right since my orders for seperation have already been cut.  Unfortunately, he's not sure there's anything he can do about it.  He also confirmed my suspicion that this Stoop-loss was due to the unit being marked for deployment.  We don't have a set date, but I have a suspicion it's gonna be the day cooresponding to a year and a day back home since last deployment.   I know there are a couple of other service members on here, any of ya'll had this much trouble??????????

if you have needed ratings....don't forget that catch all.....2 year inactive reserve.....that translates to the can still own your azz for another 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   they can pull you out of college if they want....happened to a friend in college in the 1st bush f*ckup.....
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

spc

Actually it's 4 years for me   All enlistments incur an 8 yr obligation regardless of time actually served as an active member :icon_rolleyes:  Ummm......pretty sure 11B (Infantry) is needed, and my secondary is Intel, so I'm pretty much screwed unless my discharge is already at SIDPERS and just hasn't been uploaded to my folder :icon_confused:  What's really f%&ked up, I was going active duty anyway :icon_rolleyes: I was just considering other options ( New MOS in the Army or Crossing to the Marines or potentially Navy EOD )

f%$k            I tried logging into iPERMS and it wouldn't let me.......I'm thinking 'odd but hell it is army tech'  So I go to AKO and it won't let me either.  I call AKO help desk.  They have no record of my account :o :o :o :o :o  I'm like ' I was just in there this morning'  They say they can't verify that I was ever in their database, my SSN links to no files      If my uncle is playing a joke on me I'm gonna go to DC and kick his old ass    This shaZam! is so not funny.  I find the OMPF 24hr hotline-  They have my records but they are sealed :o  I'm like ' I have TS/SCI clearance'  They say it is insufficient for the current status assigned to my files.....................WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Someone had better be playing a really f%&ked up trick on me because if this is just pure incompetence  I'm getting out and staying out.  I'll private contract :2guns:   My f%$king head hurts

spc

        I called the 24hr OMPF again and talked to a supervisor.  He checked my file and figured out what was going on.  My file was sealed because of my clearance when my discharge finally dropped.  He said when i re-enlist it will be unsealed.  I'M OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! almost a month after my ETS my discharge actually dropped     I'm off to see the Marines tommorow :thumb: then I'll have to change my name to CPLTERRY    oooh or better yet  PO3TERRY if I go navy.  I really wish it could be SRATERRY but the f%$king AF is pretty ghey right now about prior service especially from my neck of the MOS woods

Yeah I've been kinda leaning towards that.  No one shooting at ya. :icon_mrgreen:  Plenty of opportunity to finish college :thumb: Then I can commission back to the Army :thumb:  Plus they want me to do EOD :o  I'm gonna blow shaZam! up :icon_twisted:  (the 30k bonus at training end is pretty nice too, opens up the door to damn near any bike I want :thumb: :icon_twisted: )

If you can, join blackwater or triple canopy... highly expensive, morally questionable, and exploitatively wasteful of taxpayer dollars, but hell... might as well have a ginormous paycheck to show for having your neck on the line.

Then if you make it home in one piece, you can ride your dream bike.

the navy ruined my friends life, but it's still better than the marines. i beat the $h!+ out of the marine recruiters in high school because they always made fun of my mohawk and "kitty cat" clothes. since when are torn jeans and leather studded jackets deamed kitty cat clothes? oh well, they were the "highly trained killing machines" getting jumped by a 16/17 yr old.

$30,000 a month...  I was trying to figure out what I could do for 'em...

I'd only need to work two months a year...  That would RULE!   :icon_mrgreen:

spc

Hey if I get this EOD shaZam! then go Blackwater 30k a month is lowball  :icon_mrgreen:  I know a couple of people ( My uncle has had to deal with blackwater on  a regular basis ) so I might try that way :thumb:
RV:  good plan except it's a mandatory 90 day deployment usually.  Still works 3 months out of the year and Party/Ride the rest of the time.   I've got two buddies that are getting the royal fuckover from the Marines right now :icon_rolleyes:  Ones getting kicked out because of Traffic citations :o :o  ( The Army wont kick your ass out for a DUI anymore :o :icon_confused: )  And the other was supposed to ETS about a month before me and got estended through 2012 :o

Terry??  you are jumping to get out but you love the military...is it because they tell you what to do and when to do it?

You seemed to have missed some of the most important lessons while in the military.  You lack self-disciple and control.

You fuggin` scare me mate.

I lack self-control and discipline because most of my career has been assigned to sub-SF units.  As long as we get the job done no one asks questions :thumb: We get told what to do but not when or how just a general timeline.  Long Range Surveillance,  HOOAH!!!   I do love the military,  I just want out of the National Guard so that I can go Active Duty.

spcterry... watch the movie Harsh Times. Its right up your alley (and Christian Bale is awesome).

He's a loose cannon ex-SF guy who can't get a job with LAPD because of his psych evaluation, but the Homeland Security guys hire him to do anti-drug stuff in South America. The movie is all about him and his buddy driving around, drinking, getting high, and f'ing stuff up while they both try to find jobs.

spc

I think I've seen that :o :thumb:  I've got a guarunteed job when I finish my degree.................... not with the Armed forces, but i've been told that accomodations can be made to allow me to stay in the whatever branch while doing this job also. :thumb:
