So lets start off by saying id ride in the early morning(when dark) during the day and night. I ride street and freeway. I need a new shield for my helmet(scratched and deformed) but i would like to buy a color i can use during the night and day without singlasses. any ideas?

If you have a scorpion you can get the shade-shifter visor which turns to light smoke in the sun and back to clear in the dark. Otherwise  :dunno_white: you're prolly going to be stuck switching back and forth. Maybe a yellow?

The Scorp Auto-Tint visor is SWEEEEEEET!!!  It's not quite as dark as the "Light Smoke" and it's pretty blue in color, but it cuts the brightness enough to make riding in bright sun not deadly.  (My Washington eyes aren't used to sunlight.)  My Dark Smoke visor is really my favorite, but carrying the clear visor can be a little inconvenient.

So... What's your aversion to wearing sunglasses under your helmet?  It really is the easiest thing for night/day/night riding...  If you don't mind looking like you're on CHiPs you should pick up some gradient tint aviators (Meaning, the top of the lens is dark and the bottom is light).  If you bring your helmet with you and try on sunglasses with your helmet before you buy them, you can find the perfect pair.

A few other things to note...  Polarized sunglasses won't work under a visor.  The polarized filter will make the visor look like rainbows (chromatic aberration)...  Also, "Transitions" (or UV darkening lenses) won't work either, 'cause your visor blocks UV.

I think the gradient-tint aviators were great for riding...  Sunglasses  ...  And...  Under the helmet
