ordered a set of clubman bars, should be here tomorrow. With your experiences with them, what's the best bar ends for them? I definately want to shock the vibration.  Thanks

The stock bar ends should work just fine, as would any aftermarket ones made for 7/8" bars

I put clubmans on my bike and they weren't wide enough, so I had to cut them which isn't the best idea. They also suck in term of comfort, and I find that I can't corner as well as with the stockers or straight bars.

heatherg11

i checked with dgyver before i bought mine, so hopefully they will work-if not it's his fault!!! just kidding.  I dont have any bar ends on my bike right now, so that's why i was wondering if anyone had any opinons.  i dont' drive that aggressive, is it going to make a difference?

How much vibration do you have in your bars now without barends?

yeah, yeah blame me. I will buy you bars if they do not fit.

For the lack of anything else, use the Lockhart-Phillips barends.  And, you can use the rubber from the LP's to mount stock barweights, as well.

dgyver you are far too nice of a person, if I am ever in SC I will have to buy you a case of beer.

If the racing career goes well maybe soon, and by career I mean hobby, and by well,  I mean I am not dead

I use bar end mirrors mounted with rubber as bar ends, they work about as well as the stock ones.

One negative that I noticed with the clubmans (other than the comfort) is that with you leaning further forward more of your weight is on the front end. If you still have the stock springs, it makes them bottom out even more.

dgyver

For her size, I do not think that would be a problem.

yeah, 5'5" 120lbs at best. hopefully it won't be a problem.

i have more vibration in my front footpegs than i do my handlebars, but it seems that what vibe i do have could be fixed with bar ends.  am i thinking correct??

You have not felt buzz like my 00 Gix750 had. Dang feet would go to sleep in a few minutes.

Barends will reduce vibration, only if they are heavy enough. Most of the aftermarket aluminum ones may be too light to really do anything for vibration.

hey heather I have a set of stock barends if you want them. You can have them for free(well, just cover shipping).

they are only very slightly scuffed, one of the bolts is bent, and I have lost the rubber inserts.

you can get the bolt & proper nuts at any hardware store, and the rubber inserts cheap onlline probably.

otherwise, I have also heard of people using these: http://www.barsnake.com/ , or filling the bar with sand or lead shot to stop the vibes.

heatherg11

thanks l3uddha, i may have to take you up on that. I'll let you know if there is alot of vibe and if i need them.  Wow, those barsnakes are expensive...hope they really work.

Is there anything i can do about the vibe in my foot pegs?

I replaced the rubbers on my stock bar ends before. Don't bother searching for an exact replacement, just go down to the hardware store and buy some rubber plugs, drill a hole down the center and trim them down so they just slide into the bars.

Rubber isn't exactly the hardest material to work with.

As for the footbeg vibration, I find that the stock rubbers on the pegs work very well. Are yours worn out or do you have some aftermarket pegs? If so I'd just put the stock style back on or replace the worn rubber pads.

If the stock pegs are in good shape and you still get bad vibes, the simplest solution would probally be gell insoles in your boots. You could also drill and tap the stock pegs on the underside and bolt on some lead weights. Same idea as the bar ends.

BARS CAME TODAY!!!! May try to put them on myself....or I will probably wait for expert assistance from dgyver!! If I do decide to try to do it today myself anyone have suggestions for easy removal/installation? any help would be great.
