future reference... get your rear sprocket off e-bay...

I dunno how i feel about buying parts on ebay. i'd buy cosmetic stuff, but a sprocket is kinda important and I know there are alot of fakes on there. I don't mind paying a few more bucks if it's good quality. How long a rear sprocket last? I've only got like 3500 on this one and i know they go alot longer than that.

I just bought a rear on ebay, along with a chain. Got both for about $70, shipped... which is what you'd pay for a chain by itself, usually..

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

All this talk of sprockets, I ordered my 14tooth  JT sprocket  off of bike bandit yesterday. I don't intend  on doing too many wheelies since I weigh in at about 230lbs I'd probably blow my fork seals everytime I came down. That's if the bike could lift me in the first place.
93 Gs500e: Racetech 90kg springs, SV650 shock, SM1 bars...more in the works.

I found the chain and rivet link at Parts411. Can't find the sprockets? I only found "chain and sprocket sets" and they don't have them for the GS500 far as I can tell.

I've been buying the same chain and front sprocket from Chaparral almost yearly since 2000 for the same price approx.

DID520V chain with clip link    312-1910   $57.20
SS front sprocket w/o hub   504-16 or 504-15   $10.96

Never needed a rear sprocket in over 120k GS miles but add $32.96 for a SS steel rear sprocket if you must.   :)

Total $101.12 plus shipping for set.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

Jack I feel like a schmuck asking you basically the exact same thing I just asked the previous poster... I cannot find those sprockets on Chaparral's site. Even by searching for "Sprocket Specialists" and clicking all the 16 and 39 tooth sprockets that pop up, they are not the same model numbers. Do I just need to call them and talk to a real person?  :dunno_white:

I couldn't find the sprockets on either site myself, I looked them up in my Chaparral catalog and that's why I included the Chaparral part #s in my post.  Just go to Chaparral page and enter the part number in the search box to the left.

For Parts411 you have to call them and they will look them up for you, just make sure you specify your year because the sprocket changed in '93 or '94 with the addition of a shoulder on the sprocket.
