Has anyone had any success putting clubmans on their 500E? Got any links to a particular brand you use? Or did ya just go with the Ebay specials?
Also I would like to know if ya got any links to risers.
Thanks

nevermind, I did a search. YAY aint I smart!

Ok so I have a question after all.
I have been looking at the Bikemaster superbike bars. The center measurment is 4". I measured from bend to bend on th stocks and got about 6".
Is this correct or am I measuring the wrong place?
It's 4" from the center to center of the mounts.
Would they fit? I does not seem they would.

No they won't. They need to have the center section wider than the tripple clamp to fit. I bought some and they didn't quite fit so I cut them in half and then they fit. It isn't a good idea to cut the bars unless you plan on welding them back together.

+ 1 on the clubmans, mine didn't fit either. I had to mount them and I'm pretty much laying down so they will even fit in the clamps. I'm either going to cut and weld or get some SM's or clip ons.

duc- thank you so much...I can't bear to ride on those bars for more than 30 mins. My wrists and back hurt so much I can't stand it. Just let me know when you do and I will send you payment paypal if you have it. If not, however you want payment. Thanks

How did the guy in the wiki get them on?

I wonder if I can safely do a little grinding on the top mount to make them fit.
I already ordered them because I saw them on the wiki. :icon_confused:

fireguzzi - which guy? Can you describe the bars you are looking at?

Holy crap, it's the wiki...and I'm in it!!

guzzi - if you're wondering how I got the superbike bars on there (I'm not sure if you're still asking about the clubmans or if you're now interested in the superbike bars...) it wasn't very hard.  As you can see in the pictures, the straight center part of the bars is shorter than on the stock bars.  The bends are close enough together that they touch the clamps on the top triple, but I just think of it as a self-centering feature :thumb:  I've had those bars on since last July and have had no problems.

If you're asking about the clubmans, then I have no experience with those.  However i have heard that people have ground down part of their top triple to allow for the clubmans to mount correctly.  I'm not saying that's what needs to be done, but I think that's what I heard...  good luck

Well, in the Wiki they talk about Tommaselli Clubman Bars in particular (no photo though) and these may fit. I found that the ones I got didn't fit but they were really close though. I even held the bars up to my bike in the lot and thought that I might be able to squeze them on. Just take some measurements before you buy anything.

[shrugs] Make sure you order a 7/8 bar.

Yup badguy I am talking about your bike and the superbike bars. Thats great news that they fit.  :thumb:  I don't care if they just barely fit, Im not opposed to slightly modifying if I have to but I would rather not. Thanks again badguy, I am glad you chimed in.

P.S. I have decided not to go with the clubmans because they just look a little too uncomfortable. The superbikes seemed a good "in between" bar, not too uncomfortable but still a little more aggressive then stock.

badguy

Cool, glad i could help.  As I see it, there's no need to modify anything to get the superbike bars to fit.  You're right about these bars being a good compromise...that's the same thing I was thinking when I decided to get em.
