Does anyone know if the "Bic Pen" hack has been fixed on all current models of Kryptonite/Master locks?  I would assume that with all the bad publicity that it must have been fixed, but its hard to find any information about it on their websites...  seems like they tried to cover it up rather than admit the problem openly.

Also, if anyone has a recommendation for a good disc brake lock, I'm all ears...

Thanks,

I've heard that it has been fixed in new versions of those locks...

I have this lock:  http://www.xenasecurity.com/home/current/lock/

I picked a referb for about $50...  I think they're around $100 new.

I like the alarm feature 'cause it lets thieves (and other asshats messing with your bike) know that there's a disc lock on the bike...  And it's let me know a couple times when I tried to ride off with it still on the disc.   :cookoo:

I think that most of the Kryptonite locks no longer use the round style keys, so as long as they aren't round a Bic pen shouldn't be able to pick it.

I wasn't able to pick my U lock with a pen, but I'm sure that there are some crooks out there more clever than I. The problem was probally blown out of proportion (and the newspapers sure didn't help  :cookoo: ) but as long as you get a lock without a round key, you'll be fine.
