They're saying speed and inexperience were factors...can anyone tell what that bike used to be?

I read elsewhere that it was a gixxer 1000. Dumbass only had it for something like two months.

Its bad when after you've been killed that people recall you as living "recklessly"

Sounds harsh, but that's Darwin at work.

QuoteLas Vegas police blamed speed and inexperience for the crash, saying it appeared Corrales did not have a valid Nevada driver's or motorcycle license.

Who is Chico Corrales? :dunno_white:

EDIT:  From the article, I gathered that he was a boxer?  The guy had multiple counts of drunk/reckless driving.  Who's surprised that he killed himself?  I'm not trying to be insensitive though, its always sad to hear about these things.

Ah man this really sucks. Chico was one of my favorite boxers.  He had guts and fought like hell in every fight.  For all his shortcomings he was one of the most honest and open fighters I've ever watched.  He made no excuses for his losses.

I know everyone on here wants to go on about Darwinism at work and how he was a squid and broke the law and deserved to die and what not, but sit back and think for a minute that this guy left behind a wife and a beautiful baby girl.

I was reading everyone's comments and they just struck me as immensely condescending and rude. I'm sure I've been guilty of saying similar things in the past, but take a minute and recall that this was a person with a family and a story.

Pardon me, but I didn't say he deserved to die.  He died as a result of his own lack of experience and / or stupidity.  I mean, I'm sure he trained for years before becoming a professional boxer, and even then, there are many safety precautions that must be taken before, and during his times in the ring.  However, he feels he can jump on a 150 horsepower bike and drive recklessly with very little experience or training.

I'm sure that he may be a great guy, he may have had a beautiful family, and many of his friends and fans might be grieving.  For those people, I am sorry, but his death didn't come due to negligence by another driver, "Cops blame speed, inexperience for Corrales death."  I look at it this way...how would he, as a boxer, react if some professional motorcyclist decided, without training or any experience, to jump into a ring for a professional prize fight?  That theoretical person would be viewed as an idiot, and the pummeling he would receive would be due to his own stupidity.  The problem is there are rules, regulations, and a governing body in boxing that are in place to prevent that from happening.

Anyone with more money than sense can by a superbike and think they are Rossi.

I stand by my statement...  Darwin at work.

You want to prevent stories like this?  Prohibit the sales of overpowered bikes to underexperienced riders like they do in Great Britain.

Too many sensless injuries and death due to bikes whose power is suitable ONLY for a race-track...   :cookoo:

The guy has multiple DUIs, has gone to prison for beating his ex-wife, and rode a bike that obviously was far beyond his abilities. Yeah, it may be condescending to call him a dumbass, but it's also the truth.

The badass, wreckless, carefree mentality... that's the sort of triteness associated with boxers though, isn't it. Shame to see him go. As said, he was one heck of a boxer and amusing to watch -- I will miss seeing him in future EA Fight Night games :)

I can tell you this guy had his demons but he also had a lot of heart.  He was very brave and fought like a lion.  He was also very friendly outside of the ring, I hear.   Many people that have seen it say that the Castillo fight was one of the best they had ever seen.   Just a complete war.  It is sad.  Too bad he didn't have anyone close to him that could give him good advice on how to get involved in motorcycling.   Not everybody gets exposed to good advice about MSF and starter bikes.   We were the lucky ones.    Rest in peace.
