I want something more confortable than the stock seat.  Is the geat seat a better idea, or a gel pad (which is almost half the price) will do?  Any experience with the pads, what brands, places to buy them etc?  thx.

Gel seat is great...$115 from parts depot...may be less from Ron ayers...Gel pads are sorta not going to work too well. They work great on bikes that have bucket like seats like the goldwings etc... byt the slide around and pretty much dont work cos there is nothing in the stock seat for them to grab hold of and stay put. And you need 2  - for the passenger??? so might as well get the gel seat instead of pads...
Cool.

I think a whole seat is a much better choice.  the Suz gel seat is VERY plush.

Just called parts depot and ordered one.  :)  Robert is a really nice guy!  He even called me back after 5 mins to make sure I got a 2000 yr model or less, to make sure the seat will fit.  One interesting thing though, he told me the seat comes with mounting hardware, so he said i can just removed the old one and pop in the new one.  any idea about this?

No mounting hardware included.  It's easy enough just to pull the pieces off the stock seat (although a couple people have had some difficulty).
