I notice the Gs doesn't really have a whole lot of power ( something like 30-40 at the wheel ) and I was wondering if there are any engine that would fit the GS with little modifications? Maybe post the engine you have used and what you did to get it to work?

nothing is super compatible.
only one I've seen is a GR650 engine
but it is a low reving cruizer engine with only a 5 speed
and the exhaust pipes are real close to the frame
anything will fit
just sell the GS and buy a different bike

else you will be pissin' up a rope

I was thinking like using a larger 4cyl engine? anyone know of a big aircooled engine that makes alot of power? Think a 600gsxr engine would be hard? I know it's water cooled but it is a small engine

werase643

appreciate the GS for the POS that it is.  a different bike is a different bike

yes you can make anything fit....there is a company that will put Busa engine mounts into a GSXR600 frame
for a super sleeper....only cost about 6000 bucks to mod the frame

That Busa Swop Sounds Good.,

But The GSXR 600 Isnt Slow , So , Hmm They Have Sexy 0-60 Times, A Busa Gs Swop Would be Sooo Funny ,

My Friend Has A Mark 2 Stock Golf, He Wants To Put In A 3.2 r32 Engine , With A 4 Wheel Drive System , But leave It Looking As Stock As Before , That To me Is A Sleeper

hmmmmmm....if I had to do something I would do something crazy spiffy and wierd.  2003+ RM250 engine, minimum...oooooooooo or a Gamma engine....that's sex in a cage there.

4 cyl. will be hard no matter what bike it is from. the frame is made for a twin and putting an I4 will make the bike unbalenced since you would have to shift the engine all the way right to line up the sprockets. anywayz if you can find a bigger twin(not bigger in size but in cc's) then you may have a chance, but your better off buying a new bike. Once my gs is payed off im going to get a black and orange gixxer 600. still unsuer if im going to sellf gs or keep it.

Small block Chevy?  People put them in everything else...  :dunno_white:

I went through a similar thing, wanted to make my Shadow into a drag bike.  It would cost Mega dollars for little gain.  Suddenly, I like it just the way it is!
Technology changes so fast, you would be better off buying another bike you want.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
I live in theory- everything works there!

Where do people come up with such ideas?
If you want a different bike, buy a different bike.
You've got 40 posts here on the site so far, Jordan.
Learn to ride the GS500, enjoy it, and live with it until you actually master it in every situation.
It will take a while.
Then sell it and buy something else if you must.
It just happens to be a great motorcycle that will serve many purposes and be easy to live with.
But hey, do whatever you want.
It just boggles my mind lately what some people ask here on our boards.

I figured out the ultimate way to get exactly what you want....

buy a GSXR and put the crappy GS susp(forks and swingarm/shock) and wheels on it
you have a big engine and crappy susp with skinny tars

Badass smokers are "kewl" in any chassis.  Period.  I'd slam a hotrod CR500 plant in your turtle before trying to find that monster 4-banger you swifties lust after...
