I thought the case halves didn't have a gasket.  Thought it was rtv or some type of silicone gasket material.

Yeah, I think you're looking to use Yamabond or similar in there

Yup no "gasket" listed.  So back to my original question.  What type of gasket material should I use between the case halves.  Will copper RTV work?  I used copper RTV on my 72 VW case and it worked very well.

Not sure about copper rtv...

I think my previous statement stands but here's more official info:

Quote from: Clymer manualApply a light coat of nonhardening liquid gasket sealer, such as Suzuki Bond No. 1207B, ThreeBond No. TB1207D, or equivalent...

I saw that in my manual also.  Just wondering if something readily avaliable at an auto parts store would work.  I assume I could get suzuki bond at a dealer, eh?  Never heard of three bond.

I would think any store with a wide variety of gasket goops would have something that would fit the bill.  I don't have enough experience to recommend any one in particular, just the time to keep responding here

Yeah, I would think the Suzuki dealer should have the stuff.  I'd bet it's rebadged ThreeBond gasket maker, judging by the part #

My only real advice is don't apply too much, I found some of that crap in my oil and a bunch of it in the oil strainer restricting oil flow... but my engine's never been apart to my knowledge

I think it's 'Permatex' that makes most of the gasket selants I've seen at the car stores.  Used it a few time (different types), but seems to be readily available and carried in a lot of stores.  My baby leaks all over everything I drive over :icon_rolleyes: need to seal her up soon too... Lemme know how it all turns out, what you decided to use, etc...

Use a non-hardening gasket sealant. I have used some by Permatex with perfect results. Available at most any auto parts store.
Common sense in not very common.
