That article only studied deaths...  The Hurt Report covered non-fatal, non-injury accidents as well.

Apples and Oranges.

Outside of studying two different things, I have no doubt in my mind that the Hurt report is now outdated and the numbers would be different...  Even so, a lot of the points made by the Hurt report are still very valid.

Basically: 

1)  Get training.
2)  Wear gear.
3)  Be careful and mindful when you ride.
4)  Don't ride drunk/drugged.
5)  Cars are trying to kill you.

What's to "debunk" about that?   We all know all of these things are true.

All in all not a bad article.  The author didn't try to overemphasize the increase in motorcycle fatalities since they repealed the mandatory helmet law.  In the graphic she even mentions that even though deaths have tripled, the number of registrations has more than doubled. I'm not for repealed helmet laws or anything, but at least she was trying to be complete and objective in her article.  As for the MSF saying the last complete study of motorcycling habits was 25 years ago is a little inaccurate. There are several large scale studies that have been done since then.  I probably even have a few of the references laying around here somewhere. 
Personally I'm all for graduated licensing.  For one it would mean the US would get some cooler small displacement bikes.

+1, and that would keep kids like the one i saw yesterday buying a GXR750 from being able to.  He has been riding a ninja 250 for a year and he thinks he's ready.  As far as I know he might be, thats better than a newb buying one.  But after I asked him if he had dropped it or been down once he said no, and then thought about what I said and seemed to listen.  Cause everyone knows you are going to go down sometime...........

I would really like graduated licensing if it convinced Aprilia to make a small 4 stroke for the US market.
