Yeah, It was an automotive paint that I used so hopefully once fully cured it will be tough.

Well in that case, it should be able to stand up to any solvent. :thumb:

I sure hope so.......gas is going to get on it sooner or later, as well as misc oils i am sure.

Crap, I was at the gas station today.  As soon as I pressed the "87 Octane" button to select my fuel, the gas pump proceeded to spew half a galon of fuel ALL OVER my tank, frame, hot engine and leg.  I was...not happy...  Sooner or later, your tank is gonna get some gas on it.

Definitely don't wax this for 30 days!!!! Then try to find a silicone free wax only for the next 3 months...then you can go back to using any old wax.

thats what i thought, because of the clear coat.  I will have to see if I can find a silicone free wax, might have some here but would have to look.

Surely if you get a good clear coat, lacquer, gas shouldn't affect it at all. I was worried on my zxr because when we orginally sprayed a bike before we used a cheap clear coat and gas just turned the whole tank yellow when it got on it inevitably. We used a much better one afterwards and on the ZXR and i havnt had a problem since. Just use a good clear coat and you should be fine.
