Has anyone used those lighted plug wires yet ?

I've seen these in the J&P catalog , and they look to be pretty snazzy (and the blue ones would go along with my leds that light the engine and the tail section leds ... my "please don't run me over lights" hehe) , but i'm wondering how much voltage they draw away from your plugs , thus decreasing performance . Maybe voltage isn't the right term , amperage probably , but you guys get my meaning I hope  :icon_mrgreen:
My wife isn't home ( her night at the hospital with my daughter , long story , but she'll be OK) and I can't find anything in this house on my own without her ( the uterus is a tracking device lol) , or else i'd post the brand/model of them

Thanks guys ,

I tried searching btw ... didn't see much , but I actually DID find a good place to hook up my LEDs in the Wiki article on adding a clock/temp gauge . There's an extra ignition-switched hot wire in the headlight bucket . I currently use the extra plug that used to have the jumper cable style clamps that came with my battery tender hehe ... I just reversed the wires so when the tender is unplugged , I plug that extra tender connector i've attached to the LEDs into the connector that's ran directly to my battery ... kept me from having to get into the headlight bucket for wiring and having to pull of the plastics to run a wire back for the LEDs . As i'm gonna have to do rewiring and such to install my buell headlights , i may as well run the LEDs properly and not have to cut into the headlight power supply wiring . I *think* the "extra" wire up there in the bucket comes on with just the parking lights too ... i'll let you know .
I'm gonna take pics during my headlight install also , as I think i've got a good way to do it , and if it all goes together well i'll add it to the Wiki ... there's not much on there regarding actually mounting the lights ... yet  :thumb:

I've never used the lighted plug wires but they seem like a bad idea. Basically your spark is happening outside the cylinder so there can't be much juice left over to actually kick off the spark plug. Plus if they end up frying the coil or something that would be an expensive bummer.

It'd be better just to hook a up some sort of strobe or flashing LEDs if that's the look you're going for. Your engine would still run fine that way.

yeah flashing lights on your bike, esp if blue or red, are probably a bad idea becasue the police will stop you and possibly give you a ticket for that.

I'd doubt they would be bright enough to 'strobe' and cause the attention of a LEO. Not to mention the frequency of the pulse is pretty damned quick. even idling at 1200 rpm you're going to to 'flash' each one 20 times a second. Once up to anything above 3000 rpm, it will just appear to be a non-flashing light.

go on and try it out. i'd be surprised if any LEO would even notice, since most HD's and squidbikes are doing alot more to draw attention befor they get out of 2nd.
