Carb problems.. Not running well..

So, I made an attempt at rebuilding the carbs on my 92' GS500.

Symptoms before touching the carbs:
the throttle response was laggy, in cold weather the bike would die out (on the highways too..)

So the story begins.. I took out the carbs, opened them up, and cleaned everything with gas, and washed it down with water.

I put it back together, and now it runs fine off the idle to 3000rpm, but between 4000-6500 rpm the acceleration completely goes down, and it misfires, and the throttle is VERY uneven/unsmooth (like itll go and the slow down and go and then slow down, just very uneven) if i go full throttle beyond 6500rpm it accelerates fine.

Also, I have a problem with the throttle sticking, any help on this??

Last problem, for some reason the bike will only receive gas on "prime", if I put it on "res" it just wont get gas, same as "on" (though for some reason my "on" position has NEVER worked, it always dies out cuz of no gas)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Several possible problems which are related to the vacuum of the frame mounted valve....
1. the vacuum line may be blocked.
2. the diaphram may be stuck shut.
3. the check valve in the vacuum circuit has turn to goo and has sealed shut.
Common sense in not very common.

Sounds to me like you didn't quite get the pilot jets clean.  It's getting enough fuel to run slowly, but when it demands max fuel from the pilots, they can't deliver and it's not going fast enough to draw everything it needs from the mains.  Then once you get past 6500, the mains are delivering enough to run the bike.

I suggest taking it off, and cleaning out the pilots again.  Make sure that they are clear of debris and fuel gunk.  That, or replace the pilots with 40's if you haven't done any rejetting.

Also, was there rust in the carb?  If there's rust, it'll not run right for long before it gets rust again from the tank until the rust problem is solved.
Sorry, I won't answer motorcycle questions anymore.  I'm not f%$king friendly enough for this board.  Ask me at:
