Kat 600, pretty much bolts straight on, no change in seat height and you get some damping control.  The SV650 raises the rear and you only get preload like the stock GS shock.

What Needs To be Modifed? on The Kat , I Notice The Wiki Doesnt Have Anything On it

nothing has to be modified on the Kat shock, if you get a 600 shock..the Kat 750+ lends itself to trouble..

nope. i have a kat750 (i think he said its a '98). i just pulled all the linkage off it and used the stock gs linkage. took me an hour to swap out. i'm definitely happy with it too.

but does it raise the seat height? That's where the trouble can come in...and the newer 750 has a remote reservoir which you would have to mount somewhere. I looked at the older 750 shock and ultimately decided to go with the 600 for AJ's bike..considering the 600 would raise the seat height, even though only slightly, enough that I wouldn't be able to reach the ground on my gs.

So for a 6'2" 165 pound guy, SV 650 or Katana 600 shock?

I can get a SV650 Shock for 20 bucks shipped right now that is virtully brand new(off a 2003 bike with 700 miles)

yup it is the correct one. but if it doesnt do anything for me, Id rather go with something thats going to work

i have a Kat 600 ,. and i have a SV650 shock , and i havent decided yet , the sv looks better , but the Kat fits staight in ,

the kat750 i have doesn't have the remote reserviore, and i don't notice any difference in seat height. i'm 5'9 and have no problem flatfooting it.

At 5'9" the 1/4" wouldn't make a difference to you..unfortunately for us short people..1/8" can make a difference... I hate being short...

ok so Kat 600 for 40 bucks in great shape or SV650 In almost new shape for 25?  Is the SV shock going to give me a better ride?

No..because the Kat shock has dampening and preload adjustment while the SV shock only has preload like the GS shock..its just beefier..

alright gotta find a Kat 600 shock, then,  Just got pictues of the one I was looking at, looks like it went through a meat grinder,  Any tips on where to find em?

I payed £25 for my sv shock , some ppl pay like £60 on ebay for them here,  mad really , and the Kay Came With The Doner Bike , The Kats got more adjustment , but i dunno , People should say what they think about them ,,if there installed..

Could someone tell me why the white one won't work .... I have one I am eventually going to install...The only thing I will have to do it drill a new whole in the bottom otherwise it should bolt up....
