So I was think about making some pre-load adjuster for my 04. that way I would do this is by taking the caps off both forks, drilling a hole in the center of them and tapping it, using a long enough bolt I would thread is in the cap, weld a plate to the screw(to compress the spring). So to adjust you would lossen the lock nut tighen the bolt then the lock nut and go for a ride then adjust to where you like it. So would this work?

The most basic form of a preload adjuster.  It's a bit more complex than you think but the concept is sound.  I actually do this for people on vintage bikes (CB's, GS's, KZ's, etc).  I charge $25 to make the adjusters + $25 core for your old caps.

Why not just get on ebay.co.uk, or the british site, and buy a set of them from them? The eurospec bikes come with OEM Suzuki pre load adjustable fork caps.

I'm sure if you post on the british site, someone will have some, or go to a wrecker for you and get some. Cheaper/easier.

Don't you need different bars or risers to get the UK caps to work?  Since, they stick up the handlebars get in the way...  Don't they?

Also, remember, if you do tap and thread, they need to seal so that the fork oil will not leak out [in case of a tip over or crash].  Better to buy the already-made ones.

RV is absolutely correct. If you fit the Euro-spec` adjusters to the fork-caps, you need to also use clip-ons, otherwise there is nowhere near enough clearance between the fork-caps and the USA spec handlebars to accomodate the adjuster bolt. Breakers yards here in the UK are full of them.

I alreadt have clip-ons. and scratch your totally correct Im able to make and small slot it the top of the cap to put an o-ring, we do it at work all the time when we need to drill and tap fitting, you can also use teflon but you will need to find where the best feel is mark it remove and add teflon then re-install.
