Tires... choices....

Yes I know the wiki mentions this information, and I realize the person that posted the info has 120K miles on a GS500

my questions are...

1) seem BT45 still is being sold, would there be much of a difference in tire per say to go with the V rated versus the H rated tires
(the only thing I can think of is the V rate would have tigher sidewalls - but dont know if this is an advantage on the GS)

2) Metzeler Lazertec seems to get good reviews...priced equaly tothe BT45.. any thoughs on this one.

3) Avon, seems to be a favorite, though the AV45/46ST are being discountinued (and the Av55/56 will not be in our sizes)
how many people use this tire, and are they happy in wet traction over the BT45 ?

4) now I prefer Michelin tires on my car, but seems the Michelin tires are getting a bad rep on motorcycle tires, anyone use these and prefer these over the 3 named above ? comments appreciated on this one.

5) is there an avantage to go with the 110/80 && 140/80 over the OEM sizes ?

any other brand I might of ignored... ??

Be mindfull I am mostly a tourer/daily driver type of rider. I dont go much over 80MPH (indicated) and I dont intend to do 45' leans in a turn. I need something great on dry and great on wet... I ride all year round. (safety over "speed racer" for me)

I need tires, the Mez Z2 in front is almost new, and I am willing to mismatch but will more than likely get 2 new tires matching set.

A little research in prices this morning/last night came up with this information below (if it proves usefull to anyone great)
I post this to get comment on dealers as well, (maybe you use one I have not found through google.)  I will be checking prices with my local shop to see if they are competitive but I doubt  it (unless they include install prices)

If you're considering BT45 tires from AMT, be sure to look under OE REPLACEMENT CRUISERS/STANDARDS for the GS500 G spec tires.  110/70 and 130/70 BT45-G are $66 and $72, hard to beat for price and a lot less than the Lasertecs. I really liked the Lasertecs and it remains my all time favorite front tire on the GS's but the price goes up a couple times a year now on Metz tires.

Also consider the new Avon Roadriders for $59 and $66 for OEM sizes.  I still love my current Lasertec/RoadAttack combo, but they're almost $100 a set more than the new Roadriders at my local tire outlet.  I may try those myself later this year in the 110/80 and 140/70 sizes although I still prefer a radial rear.

There are just too many choices now in very good mc tires, a couple decades ago it was so easy to choose, touring tires or sport tires.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

i just bought a roadrider front tire, and I'm really happy with the performance of it so far. I haven't ridden in the rain with it yet.
