Ok, I have searched and searched and still have not been able to find anything to answer the questions about my bike. I want to get my bike to a little bit of a higher speed. Can someone help me?

1. Are the sprockets mentioned on this forum http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=28026.0 able to be used on the 2006 GSF?
2. Is it better to change the front sprocket or get a rear sprocket?
3. Where the heck can i purchase these sprockets, if possible?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Say were talking bout the front sprocket , Faster Accelration . You want to go down a tooth , from 16. to 15 ,. as it makes the revs higher , say you want a higher Top end , you want to go up a tooth from 16 , to 17. as the bike revs lower in the indicated Gear

i dont think you would get much of a top end ,  and its all about a acceration ,. so id personally go for a 15

gs is not made for speed at high end of power band. :cookoo:   But if thats what you want then you go 1 up in the front and 2 down in back.

your best bet is increasing the torque and acceleration.  by going 1 down in the front and 2 up in the back.  then put a timing advance on it with a kn and re jet.

Theres just to many factors fighting against you  to get it above 130mph.  Wind and engine size are two biggies.

Just 1 down in the front will make a difference...  Especially if you add in a new pipe, open intake (K&N), advance the ingnition, and rejet.   :thumb:

(Not like I'd know about that other stuff... :P)

Ok, it's open for debate, but the GS isn't a bike built for speed... Why do you want to go faster than stock? I can't think of too many roads out there require you to go above 110MPH. If you are looking for more acceleration drop to a 15tooth sprocket in the front...

Ok, So thank you for reminding me that it only makes it to 110 MPH. Not what I asked. I just wanted to make it a little faster to better keep up with the others in my group and doing a wheelie every now and again wouldn't hurt. But I appreciate the help with the teeth Nasty. But also, Where can these sprockets be purchased?

The WIKI has sprocket info:  http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Sprocket

But, the best way to "Keep Up" and do wheelies is to buy a GSXR...  Just like all the other squids.   O0 :thumb:

The WIKI says the JT sprockets shown there will fit all years, not true.  They're showing the front sprocket with the hub and it fits all years from 94 on.  The 89-93 GS500 have a front sprocket without a hub and the one with the hub won't fit.

The sprocket without the hub will fit all years from 89 on and I've used that one on my 97 and 02 GSs and it works fine for an old man.  :thumb:  Kiddies doing wheelies and burnouts should probably get the one with the hub for all 94 and later GSs.

407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

You know maybe ya'll are right, f%$k GS', I just came with a simple question to get some answers and noone can answer them without some wise ass crack, but whatever. :2guns: Only things I could find is for older GSE's So I wanted to know if someone knew where to get them for a GSF.  I think I've figured out that my GS will not keep up with the others, but the closer the better so i guess i will go get a GSXR.  :flipoff: Thanks, For nothing

:thumb:  Wheelies and 140+ MPH here you come!  It's gonna be the greatest thing ever riding that new GSXR...  Your buddies are gonna think you're the coolest ever when you pull a high-chair wheelie on the freeway at over 100 MPH...  Especially wearing shorts and flip-flops with no shirt on...  SWEEEET!!!

DUDE!  It's gonna RULE!!!  You're gonna be the COOLEST!!!!!

(Or you could have actually look at the friggen info in the Wiki and found where to get your damn sprockets...  Read gsJack's post).

Yeah, get a Gixxer and find a nice forum somewhere where people will applaud you for your arrogance.

You obviously need some schooling on how things work... There isn't just one magical piece to install on your engine that will make your bike a Gixxer.... Want your GS to go faster?

Get a K&N Lunchbox and Rejet... Get an exhaust with more flowthrough

Want to do wheelies? Get a 14 tooth front sprocket... Then you better upgrade your shocks, because the GS will land like a ton of bricks with stock springs, if you're not careful. NOTE: You WILL sacrifice top speed for acceleration when you put a smaller sprocket on your bike... It's a trade off, wheelie for top speed... ok ...

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

DAmn you guys confused me. Im 300 lbs and Ive broke the 130 mph barrier on my 07. It doenst wheelie for anything, but ill get the 14 tooth and change the springs. As for the comment from Chico or chica, whatever, dude go to the wiki and you will find it. Im learning that same fact. But as far as the GSXR, you might be better giving your GS to a real rider. Ive had the biger bikes, but the GS is more fun. Sure you dont have the aftermarket of the bigger bikes, but it makes you, and the rest of us, but our heads together and get it going. I did my fenderectomy from here, and Im gonna build my first custom outta a wrecked 06, all with the inspiration and help of my new friends on the site. sure some of the guys have a dry humor and you might take that for being jerks, but these people here are very well informed for noobs. Just chill, and we'll get throught this together. If you go with the GSXR, good luck and get my number, my uncles a funeral director. :flipoff: Just JOKING :thumb:

a 16tooth to 14 tooth WILL raise your RPMs, lets say at 55mph, about an additional 1000rpm higher than a stock one. A 15tooth will only be around 5-600 rpm higher, but the equals to a 3 tooth drop in the rear, So think about your goal. Wheelies? Go 14 but sacrifice a little out on the open road. :dunno_white:
