Honestly you should look at the new buell XB's the tail section angle is def. that steep.  And as I said earlier, think of all the crotch rockets out there..... don't try to tell me that is a first class comfort ride.

The angle above looks better for riding on one wheel then two :thumb:

Are you joking?  You're trying to tell me that this:

Would be just as comfortable as this?:

or even this:

Look at the angle of the seat ... on the chopped GS you're sitting right in the crook of a very sharp V, that's going to be painful.  Even the CBR, which has almost no padding in the seat, at least has a level, contoured surface.

Well if I go through with the mod I ll let you all know what the good word is. :o

You guys need to learn who Jim is... And.. you need to respect him

He doesnt just build these GS's to sit and show .. He rides them! Not just 5 miles.. He rides them HUNDREDS of miles.  :thumb: If anyone here in the US could even come close to Jims GS designs I would be amazed... Comfy or not.. If I could, I would ride one of Jims creations cross country and back just to have the pleasure  :thumb:

Sport bikes arent made to be comfy, they are made to look cool and go fast. If you want a comfy bike; buy a Goldwing with heated seats, cup holders and a nav system  :flipoff:

Again Jim  Keep up the AWESOME WORK !!!

dude....how is that even comfortable? that seat will be in your ass.

servus,

it was very comfortable for ME!

@scottpA_GS:   Thanks. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Do still currently have this bike in this form...or was it transformed into the eightball?

gstwizzle

Jim Knopf Where did your rear sets?.... Or where is a good place to pick up a set of after market rear sets?....

Jay_wolf...Yeah the wiring and lights will have to be done, but redoing the rear end just opens it up for alot more possibilities.  Anything looks better than the GS square box tail light sticking out like a sore thumb!! :o  That really should't be that big of a deal anyway.

gstwizzle

cool thanks....
I actually have another question for you....Did you use the stock X1 seat with the buell tail section?  I am guessing you had to shave it some.

Jim Knopf

servus,

yes, i´ve used the stock X1 seat. modified in the front sektor.

gstwizzle

Jim if your out there this question is for you..... I got the x1 tail section.... I have my rear tail section all chopped off.....To mount it they way i want it i had to cut out the old battery box support....  I was just wondering if you also did this? and if so what did you do in its place.... Did you just weld a new plate to relocate it?

Jay_wolf

Wish i could weld, might have to look for a welding kit and learn , hmm

You said in another post that the rear wheel on there was a 6.25.... How did you go about shimming out the fronts sprocket for the wider rear tire?  And what bike did you get this particular swingarm off.???

Thanks :icon_razz:

Jay_wolf

I think its the 1200 Bandit Swingarm , with a 6.25 inch rear wheel  fitting a 200 tire

So how did work then ..... I thought the biggest rim you could put on it was a 4.5 or 5 in wheel.
