Did my first drag racing meeting the other day best time 14.088 sec 1/4 mile with a .125 reaction time just wondering what the best other people have gotten.
Mine has full Jardine Exhaust, K&N filter (drop in) and rejetted and regeared 14Tooth sprocket. :thumb:

Yeah thats the place, lotsa fun had some stunt riders out there doing all sorts of things but the thing that impressed me the most was trying to ride an R6 with a blown tyre at about 30kmh just watching the rear flick back and forth as he tried to keep it in a straight line  :thumb:

So was it just a bike night there or cars as well?

what about traps?

makenzie71

i've always hated when the strips had traps.  this one in houston has pitfalls right after the christmas tree so you have to be able to jump over it without losing speed.  then they lined the sides of the strip with mines so you can't lose control after the jump or boom game over.

FearedGS500

think mine was someingthing like 80-83

It was bike night but more cars then bikes there. About 16 or so bikes and about 100 cars. Though I'm glad we didn't race the cars I can tolerate being beaten by Busa's, ZX10's, R1's and GSXR 1000 but it just does not feel right getting chewed up and spat out by something like a Datsun Sunny (even if it does have a V8 under the bonnet) or other tin tops, and a good portion of the cars were quicker then the bikes.
Also lesson for the night was if your bike has a slipper clutch go home. They completly burn out after the second run or at least it did for a bloke on his new new R6 the clutch was so stuffed the bike could not actually move so I can only guess it was towed home. A couple of other blokes were saying it happens quite often out there. :thumb:

Last time I was in Sydney I saw the sickest R34 Skyline of my life. The guy had shoe polish on his window... must have been racing that weekend. I was instantly jealous.

traps are a good way to see the potential power of the machine, taking away the launch, rt part of things.

dunno - something I came to appreciate from talking with the old school car guys making big power.  those guys i'm thinking of talked mostly traps - "ran 200mph+"..."woah, what times"..."don't know, around 7 or 8 seconds"

not all tracks that can measure traps (haven't seen any around here that can't) are setup that crappy.  not suggesting traps are everything, but what does it hurt to chat about?

Yeah I've been beaten by a WRX ( on the road) I got a lousy start but I don't think that would have saved me but there was not much in it :thumb:

To Bubba
Yes many fully sic skylines, 180sx & 200sx some so sic that they dropped their guts and had to be pushed off the start line   but I love the lebo tune they do on them just before a run sit there rev and rev the car till the blow off valve cuts in and then their ready  :thumb:

I reckon it would be better than going to the circus to see some of these blokes carry on at the drags.

WREX, I don't doubt that a WRX would be quicker than a GS, I was refering to some of the souped up WRX's, with the 20" chrome rims, blow off valves, mad body kits, etc.

the machines are different animals all together - each do different things better the other, and I like them both.  it's a little narrow IMO, to say that one is unequivocally better then the other in all possible aspects.  The GS is what it is, and I don't enjoy it any less just because my cage is faster.  in fact during bike season, the wrx is parked a lot more then the GS is.

on topic - like I said, I think it's still cool to hear what our GS's can do in situations like drags, and also twisties like we've talked about in other threads.
