I found this last night and the price is right, hell I don't even have to wait for the insurance payout :icon_mrgreen:
I know it'll be a good bit faster than the GS

I've always heard hondas are good bikes that is a good price "if it runs good". I would check it out first, as I would anything else. Take it for a ride and see how you like it. Good luck.

I wrote to see if I can see it. Taking it for a ride might be difficult seeing as I can't put any pressure on my left hand still   I've always heard good stuff about honda, too.  And it's already got a D&D pipe on it.  I still might have to put my CF wileyco on.

Uh. . . That is a waste of money if you ask me.  Another $1500 more saved and you could get a second gen SV that will run trouble free forever.  That bike there is a lot of money for something that is 17 years old and beat down.

Many of the ancients believe that Jake D was made of solid stone.

the only person I would ride Buddha Loves You with is my girl and she doesn't have her class M :icon_confused:  I'll just go over it real well, make sure I run it through the rpm's in neutral.      Anyone care to speculate at a top speed after I put a wileyco , some pods and a rejet???

I wasn't planning on paying that.  i was gonna offer like 1250

Crucialval

Good point on the SV. I see them all the time for like 2500. and a lot newer. I would have someone ride it though. it's amazing what you can learn from a test ride.

Ok I love honda personally but uhmmm if I remember right the front wheel for the hurricanes was a 16" wheel and that's gonna be a real Buddha Loves You to find performance rubber for.

I thought the Hurricanes were the Shiznit when they brought them out back in the 80's.

BTW it already has a D&D pipe on it  :dunno_white: why you gonna screw with changing it.

As with all sportbikes after a few years the newer shinier bike comes out and slowly but surely your not going to be able to get factory parts for this machine, and the aftermarket is going to be limitied this is not like the GS which has a motor that has been virtually unchanged since 89....hell that motor design was mothballed at least a dozen years ago on the hurricane 600 so I say just be careful
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

the other bike that I coudn't get out to look at is a 650r......the guy wants 3k for it but he's also been trying to sell it for 6 months.

spc

OK, I went by the bike shop.  I'm meeting with the guy who owns the Kaw 650r next friday when I have the pins out.  I'm going to test ride it then we're going to try to work out a price :thumb:  Anyone have any experience with these. It's got a power commander on it and has a dyno cert of 81rwhp.  inline twin just like the baby G.

Nice bikes, but you're saying he's asking $3,000? That bike is brand new in 2006 and sells for $6400. I don't think I've seen one advertised for less than $5k. For $3k I'd have to imagine there is something really wrong with it. Or perhaps it's not actually a 650r?

manofthefield

Grainbelt has a 650r and did a nice comparison with the GS here

He lowsided it and destroyed the fairings, so it's been streetfightered.  It's got an acerbis cyclops up front and the speedo needs to be reattached ( he bought a new one after just never hooked it up)

Hell I'd be all over that. If you don't buy it send it my way :)

spc

It's a seriously sexy bike :thumb:  The only thing left to do to it is paint the acerbis to match, put the speedo back on and get a 2 bros racing exhaust.  I've googled it and looks like you can brush 95-100hp between a PC and race exhaust.  It's got brand new Metz M-3 tires on it.   It's a mean looking bike.  I can't wait to ride it next friday.  The Mechanic at the shop said when he took it out it power wheelied in 2nd and had no problem clutching up in 3rd :icon_twisted:  And it's no insanely fast, only does 140, but it's still enough to stay with most sportbikes on the highway

I want this bike

Go for the 650r if its in sound condition, better than a GS liquid cooled fuel injected and a cassete style transmission if you ever have to get into it. 81 rwhp on the dyno with a power commander is great, the rear is preload adjustable and they dont have any damping or rebound adjusability it is truly an entry level sport bike. Looked at a new one for my wife but we went with the F4i instead. It is also a very compact low to the ground package we have a friend who can't even tiptoe Jenns F4i but she can ride the 650 and almost flat foot.

The only way you should consider the F1 hurricane is if it were going to be an additional bike to a collection for nostalgia purposes.

I haven't heard from the guy with the f1 :dunno_white: so f%$k it.  It'll be a few weeks before I actually get it but I'm pretty sure I'm getting this 650r.  It looks like a beefed up mean as GS, and the FI and water cooled parts are nice too.  No wondering if it's OK at long lights in the summer     It's got aftermarket rearsets too,  their race style ( 1 up, 5 down)  I've sat on it and it seems pretty comfortable :thumb:  At 81hp I won't feel the need to mod it at least for a few weeks     good thing too, the exhausts for it are nutso expensive :o  I really like this bike, I can't wait to ride it :icon_twisted:  I'm pretty sure the rear shock is aftermarket, unless they put ohliins on stock :dunno_white:

bettingpython

exhaust for any bike is nutso expensive, the Jardine can, not a full system just a can for my bike is $480. I an diassapointed in the exhaust on the wifes F4i, I am looking at a 2 brothers Ti, or CF High mount Full system for it and it's gonn be about 9 bills for her bike. Plus I need to do the pre-04 subframe and tailswap to get rid of that damned bannana seat.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

spc

Yeah I found an arrow for 900 :o  and a 2 bros for 700.  I'll end up getting something cheap seeing as you can't really see it :thumb:

bettingpython

Ooooooohhhh arrow sweet exhaust mang, If I ever do a full system for the 954 that's the one I want, their tig welded joints on the titanium pipes are just stunning, they are reputed to have one of the best fits and some of the highest quality stuff available for Honda's.
