My Xena disk lock somehow managed to fall out from under my seat today whilst riding in the rain.

I have no idea where I was when it escaped but I hope no one hit it as its a solid chunk of steel.

Wow, can you imagine what would have happend if it fell then somehow got between your spokes?

I used to keep mine baned together with my tool kit, was a pain but it never moved.

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

Yeah don't want to think about that.

Can't believe I have ridden with it sitting on the tool kit for so long without it going anywhere and today its just gone!

Must have slid forward under braking and out the side on the seat.

It was a great disc lock. Think I will get another one.

yes, the GS is definitely no cargo beast.... :dunno_white:

As for the disk lock I decided a few weeks ago to tie its pouch on the handlebars using two zip-ties.
I find it more useful/practical than keeping it under the seat, for a number of reasons:
-I don't have anymore to take the seat off to take the disk lock everytime I park my bike;
-it's extremely easy to take when I need it, and it won't move when riding (rode many kms so far, not a problem yet with that);
-in the uneventful case that it wants to come off for any reason, being it under my eyes I can do something in time;
-there are fewer chances for me to forget it mounted when I take the bike back from parking, b/c when looking at the ignition I immediately get aware of that little yellow thing missing in the pouch. :thumb:

Only drawback I can think of, is that any passing-by dumb@$$ could take it and drop/throw it away, but BTW as a matter of fact I never leave my bike unattended without disk lock on.

Works for me.. :thumb:

A disc lock is an anti theft device for motorbikes.

It is a lock that it fixed onto your disc brake rotor that prevents a thief from wheeling away your bike.

My lock was a Xena Disc lock that has an inbuilt alarm that goes off if the lock is moved before being unlocked.

Xenas come with a cool little carry bag...  I strapped it around the part of the grab handle that's under the seat......  Then, I can store it in the bag and zip it closed.

I'll take a pic if you don't see what I mean....

galahs

I'll be doing that this time as its further out of sight.

I used to have it strapped to my handlebar until flogged the bag whilst I was watching footy  :2guns:
So I had my lock wrapped in a long sock under my seat. I had to jam it in position so I can't believe it came out!

I have the same problem. i want to use my disc lock but its such a pain to take the seat off and get it out and put it all back together again. The zxr has crappy underseat storage as well, i have to masking tape my disc lock in to the tool kit bay just to keep it in there otherwise it will bounce out and down the side f%$king something up no doubt. Having to tape it in really defeats the point because then i never use it as i cant stick it back in lol.

Go to a used crap store and look for a zipper bag...  Makeup bag, change purse, whatever will fit it...  Then figure a way to attach that...

The Xena lock bag is perfecto. :thumb:  Strapped around the under-side of the grab rail.   :thumb:

Well the disc lock came with this excellent holder. Its idea. Its a metal bracket, you bolt it to somewhere and then the disc lock locks around it therefore you know 100% its there and not going to fall off unless the bracket does. The only problem is, i cant fit that anywhere on my bike other than on the underside of tail section above the wheel, where it will just get covered in shite.

I keep my Xena lock in there and haven't had any problems. Well, except that those locks are terribly un-weatherproof. Mine doesn't work as an alarm anymore because it's gotten water damaged (and now is rusting).

galahs

Well I think I've fixed the seat.

I have cut to shape, then wedged in some rigid plastic sheet on both sides and tied it in place with fishing line. Now nothing can escape.

Might also help to keep the contents under the seat dryer too  :icon_mrgreen:

I'll post some pics l8r

After I do a Kat shock swap I will take th rear fender out and make an alluminum pan to fit. This should give ample space, then cut out sides and have them welded on.
