Hey Guys

A month ago I asked about replacing my '98 tank with a '02 one to take advantage of the bigger capacity.
I was told I could but no one had any photos to show the final result.

Anyways - I bought a new tank for £80 ($160ish) and with tiny amount of heat from a paint stripper I was able to bend the seat up a tad to fit the new tank.

Here are the photos some photos showing the before and after.  I think it looks ok, what do you all reackon?

Looks good , how did u put on the side panels , there still 89-01 arnt they?

UMMMMM?I did a write up on that.Dunno what happened to it.I can't find it in the searches.

Yes, the panels are still the '98 ones.
I didn't need to modify them at all.  On the old tank, you have a hole on each side with a rubber collar which the peg on the frame fits through.

The new tank doesn't have any holes so the pegs currently hang loose.  It's no problem though as when the frame is bolted down, there is no movement.
Obviously if you tug at it, the plastic will pull away but that is the only way to tell.
To ride the bike or look at it parked it's imposible to tell

I dunno how you did yours but I have little brackets with the rubber gromets to hold the front of my side covers.  I have 2004 on an 1989.

Good job ... Yes 89 seat works OK on the 01 body. Acted a little squished though on cheesy's bike.
BTW ... your Givi is it ... ...  You can moonlight as a hearse.  ...

Looks good...  I was thinking that some heat on the seat would make it fit better...  The parts on the tank that go under the '01+ seat look a little funny, buy only to someone that knows what an '01+ seat looks like on that tank.


Overall, it looks good. 

Thats not a Givi!!!!! thats a f%$king weber grill.........   like Rvert has

You can remove the staples from around the front of the seat pan and cut it where the factory tank to seat lines match up.Then pull the vinyl back over and restaple it or get an upholster to do it.

I put some heat on already to make it fit.  I didn't go mad with it though in case I damaged the vinyl

Leave my givi alone, Its fantastic - everything goes in there.
I got the topbox, plate and fittings for about £100 on ebay.
