so the other day i was riding like usual cruising about 50 and all the sudden it dropped about 500 rpm and bogged like crazy. so i down shifted and gave it gas, alot of gas and nothing. i down shifted all the way to 2nd and it accelerated alittle bit but i think it would have accelerated faster if i would have just gotten off and pushed it. i got scarred and pulled over. it was idling at less that 1k and if i just gave it a little gas it would stall, but if i really get on it(stopped in neutral) it would rev up very very slowly and very very low pitched, almost as if it was running on 1 cylinder.

i didnt know what to do so i just sat there and let it idle for a minute, then i tried revving it p again and the same thing, but then all the sudden it popped and revved like crazy again, and it sounded normal again too.

then the same thing happened again today, but for a longer time and then after i got going again, it would drop that same 500 rpm and then pop back to normal almost anytime i stopped.

has this happened to any of you guys before, or do you have any ideas as to what it might be? i really like the bike and i dont want to get rid of it, but right now its seeming to be about as reliable as a crack addict.

i am having a similar problem.  i think it may be one or more of the following

petcock
vacuum hose
airbox
carb
plugs
gremlins
liberal camerican
living in beautiful new port richey florida
i have a beautiful gf(not anymore)
former navy bubble head (JD is our patran saint)

scratch

Mine has only done this twice in the 3 years that I've had her.  It's the "Feul Starvation" problem, whereby either the carbs empty faster than the fuel lines/frame-mounted vacuum-operated diaphragm valve can flow or an inability for the tank to vent adequately and not create a vacuum in the tank.

Search "fuel starvation" for more.
