I don't know of any pre-made product that moves the foot-pegs down...  You could put a lower-profile peg on, but you'd only gain a 1/2" or so...  You could put something on the seat to raise you up...


Try scooting back in the seat, rather than sitting close to the tank.

If you install a stiffer rear shock you may be able to get another inch or so.

Seat-to-ground, yes... but seat-to-peg is just frame.

Im 6ft 3 , and ive rode The gs for hours , and found it very comfy , 

I am 6'4 and had trouble until I got used to it. Knees hurt and hips cramped. Once you limber up and get used to it you will be fine. Check the wiki for rearsets and add some of them.

Yep, put on some engine guards with forward pegs to stretch the legs some.

I keep threatening to go naked so I can do something like that.

I'm pretty limber, but my right knee bothers me after a couple of hours of being tucked under. Rear sets would make that worse.

I guess I abused my knees a bit to much in years past.

really the only effective way to give youself a little more room would be to install a rearset from another bike to move the footpegs back a little.  There are some universal ones that I have seen that might work with the fabrication of an adapter plate or welding. 

And you could go with a rearset from a more cruisery bike, they don't go up as they go back as much.

I've been thinking about redoing the seat on my bike over the winter. I figure if I build up the foam enough to eliminate the step and make the seat flat, I can gain just enough legroom to add a little comfort. Plus, I would stop sliding forward as much while riding, which would eliminate the wedgies that come with longer rides.

Yeah... I had that problem for quite a while myself, but eventually surrendered to the position the seat wanted me in- further forward, legs folded tighter. So far, my legs don't seem to mind, and my butt is a lot happier.

Sargent customizes seats, and one of the services is to change the "level".. they have you mark a horizontal line on the seat with a level so they know how to alter it. I wouldn't be surprised if they could raise it an inch or so as well.

Way back many years ago when I was 6' 2 1/2" tall and riding my first GS500, I considered lowering my GS pegs about 1" by making a couple small pieces like this to lower the plates that carry the pegs and rear brake parts:



It would probably be necessary to drop the exhaust a wee bit where it attaches to the passenger peg brkt.  I was running 130/90-17 rear touring tires then and they raised the rear of the bike about 1" so there would have been no loss of cornering clearance.

Instead I just added the case guards and forward pegs to stretch my legs a bit, pics above in previous post.  Now I'm glad I did it that way having shrunk up to less than 6' tall already in my declining years and I have even lowered my bike a bit with longer links.

But, why wouldn't this work for someone with long legs that wanted a little more seat to peg distance?

hes probably just 6'2 or so, im doing the same thing the winter.

Have the seat reupholstered and add 2 inches of high density foam to the top of the seat.May be able to reuse your vinyl.Are you close to Spartanburg,SC?
