Is it a gift or a machine sent by the japanese to piss you off?

It all started over the weekend when i was on my way back to Blacksburg iwth my bike in the back of the truck.  It was a hot day but i like cruising with the windows down with the vents on the 4 setting, not AC.  I started getting real warm and then there was a traffic jam, my vent fan was off but the setting was still on 4.  DAMNIT 4 doesn't work.

This bugs the hell out of me .... so I have to fix it.

Tonight I rip the dash apart to get at the climate control unit to test to ensure it wasn't the motor.  I turn the acc's on and using my volt meter test the voltages coming out the back of the unit, that is where it is.....  But I have to rip the entire dash out to replace it easily.  Oh well I will have to do all that after I get the replacement.  so I put most stuff back together and asure that it works but the freaking air bag light blinks.  CRAP!

So after this I realize that the I lef the hazard light and passenger airbag light off.  so I figured yay i triped an SRS fault and I have no clue how to turn it off.......

Internet serach... internet search..... Bingo

To reset the light you have to turn the key to on and during the self test, part of the on switch that runs a test that lasts oh about 7 seconds(light stays on), with the driver door open push the dome light switch 5 times before the light starts to blink.  the dash beeps and then the light blinks slower with a code, diagnostic mode.  Turn the shaZam! off and its reset YAY.

Short story.... It broke, i wanted to see what was wrong, tore dash apart, looked and tested, Broke it, fixed it, searched for about an hour while eating, fixed it HAD A BEER

I love the key/door/dome lilght combo hahahaha

My 00 focus had a zeat belt dinger that went off if you weren't wearing the belt.  To turn it off you had to turn the ignition to run, buckle and unbuckle twice, turn ignition off then back on...all in like 2 seconds rofl.  It was light Contra all over again...

Yeah its been a great little truck but man either it was designed backwards or for just little japanese hands  .  My ac still works great, its jut that i've lost the fan setting i use all the time.  And i am pretty sure to replace the unit i have to pull the rest of the dash off, that makes me angry

The fan in my truck sounds like a "pin re-setting machine" at a bowling ally unless it is on full blast.  So I keep it on full blast and freeze.  So annoying.

yeah, right now I am driving around with a stripped dash, all but the really big part which I am afraid is going to have to come off for me to actually remove and replace the dang climate control unit......

My tacoma's HVAC fan has been squealing pretty much for the last 3 years.  It does it intermittently and I have gotten used to it.  My GF finds it pretty annoying, but I haven't had the motivation to tear into it and find the offending fan... not really looking forward to it

repair done, didn't disapsemble the dash but it would have been a lot easier had I just done it.  Took me a half hour and I didn't even bleed.

Replacing the climate control on a nissan frontier 1st gen sucks but could have been worse .....

PS does anyone happen to know anyone who has swapped the 4 cyl  for the 99-00 V6, cause when my engine goes I think I might look seriously into how difficult it would be

I've got a '98 frontier, it was a cheap buy from a family member, so I can't complain.

That engine is more bulletproof than the GS.  Well, except for the cam chain tensioner problem, but they said they fixed that.
