Hey guys,

I was riding to work this morning and the bike started to backfire again (previous post different problem) on a new tank of 87 fuel, so i pulled in to a gas station checked the entire bike over visually everything seemed fine and got back on. Rode out into traffic and was at a light when the bike just died, engine shut off lights everything like it didnt have a battery in it. Pushed it over to the shell station that I was just at and took the seat off looked at everything and put it back on. Turned the key and the lights came back on but went to start it and the bike just lost complete power again no oil lights or neutral or anything. any ideas? yes its i know it has something to do with wiring probably but any specific ideas?

I had something similar happen to me last year.  It was a broken ground wire.  See my post about it: Ugh... GS stranded me on the interstate in rushour

I will definitely check that when I get home. its in a parking lot at a local supermarket across from a gas station it should be fine (bike lock and chain are on it) so I will keep you guys updated as soon as I find out.

that you tube vid is very misleading first they do it on concrete,  secondly with a shot matt.  so unless you park on hardened concrete and they bring a matt then look out.   i suspect without the matt they would just slip and fall.  with out the hardened surface it would just dig into the ground or pavement.   anyone can steal anything with the right effort.  this whole thing is to make yours the hard target.

i saw some guy on a boat use the same bolt cutter technique to cut up some giant chains to hook up some boat anchors. so it just depends how bad you want the bike. IMO the padding was just so the guy wouldn't hurt himself if he slipped.

not counting nowadays guys that steal buiek taht are chained, use liquid nitrogen in a quickspray, smack once with hammer, lock is snapped. takes about 10 seconds and no bolt cutter needed. most of bikes that dissapear are usuall taken by a team of 30-4 guys with a pick up, lift bike into bin of truck and leave, deal with chain/lock later in chop shop.
