Hey everyone my name is Joe and I just got a 07 GS500F. This is my first bike. I've had it now 2 weeks and have put on 600 miles. So far I love my bike. I just got my shim kit in and i'm going to change her oil and do her valves in the morning. Plus i'm already taking my MSF course, just did my in class and next weekend I do my ride portion. So like the subject said I just wanted to introduce myself and if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

yeah i'm going to do the valves , shouldn't be a problem . As of now i'm a uti student and i have been wrenching on cars for years. The valves are just like the valves on my old scirocco.

Welcome!
Now you have to post pics of your bike or Pandy will get you!   :icon_mrgreen:

Welcome!

Why do you have to adjust the valves, you only have 600 miles on the thing?

Suggested valve adjustment intervals are every 4000 miles.

Or, did you buy it used?
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

at 600 miles you have to check the valves , oil change , check chain tension ( which had streched to 2 in. already  ) and so on and so on. I'm sure that she won't needed any of the valves adjusted yet . but thats what suzuki wants so i'm going to do it . plus if she did needed a valve adjusted and i didn't do it thats a good way to tear up a cam .
