2 week left! Things are going to be crazy this month on the schedule, but i'm really looking forward to squeezing this in. :)

And just so you all know, i've officially gone motorcycle crazy . . . the reason? I now have another motorcycle. That makes 2 motorcycles in just as many months.  :cookoo: I might explain why, or just wait till we meet in person.  ;)

RedShift

Let the entheusiasm build.  Jeremiah, Brad, I see you're in.  What of our other friends -- Michael, Denman, and others we have yet to meet?

Wish for warm sunny weather on July 21st.  The roads are great -- it's a weekend -- should be a nice day.

Looks like I may have spoken too soon.  Now it looks like I'll be able to go.  Good thing too, I could use a nice long ride

I hear you Michael, nothing beats twisting that throttle to releave stress sometimes. I'm looking forward to meeting up with the gang again  :)

BTW: I might have a problem if some parts i've ordered for my bike dont come in time. I'm pretty sure they will be here by Friday . . . but if not I might be in trouble. Stupid "national backorders" they keep feeding me. . .

darb85

I should have my tires on by then, Well lets put it this way, they better be installed, fing people forgot to order them, came in for the instal and they werent there.  bastards.  Oh well.  Get em a bit cheaper now.  Look forward to seeing everyone.  Get them parts vantec!

Forecast is for sunny skies and warm temperatures.  I'm getting juiced to do this ride as well.

Brad, you're the local contact here.  I hope you have some idea of how to ride into Sleeping Bear Dunes.  If not, I may be "using the force" to find the entrance to the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.

I'll run the trip through a more detailed look via MS Trips & Streets.  For now this is still the expected group route:

We're still planning to get together at the McDonalds in Manistee.  Shoot at being there by 10:30?  Suggest we wait 'til 11:00 or that everyone who commits appears there.

Sounds like a plan?

Excellent news.  Glad you reconsidered.

Jeremiah, please promise to push that new bike of yours if you have to.  I gotta see it.  I've got a line on a 2006 model and need that push to get my wallet out.   :)

Roy, I dont mean to disappoint you, but if your totally expecting me to bring the DL, then I need to explain whats happened before we meet. When I said I had gotten another bike, that meant trading the DL to get it.

Now dont get me wrong, the DL was everything I had expected and hoped for: great off roading, great supsension for dirt roads, good acceleration and surprisingly good cornering for its size. So the problem? It was big, and maybe too comfortable. :dunno_white: Maybe its because I was coming from a SV650 and GS500 but the thing felt like I was sitting on a horse going down the road, and no matter how hard I tried I just was not getting used to the positioning of the seat in relation to my old rides. At pretty much every stop, I almost tipped the bike over. I think the problem was that I was so used to an aggressive seating position that I just couldn't get myself to feel confident in traffic and cornering.

But DO NOT let my opinion have any bearing on your buying. I think because your taller than me that the bike would probably fit you much better.

So what did I get to replace it? A 2005 Yamaha FZ6. It just felt so much closer to the ground, and more stable to me. Dunno.

But either way i'm looking forward to riding no matter the bike im on ;)

RedShift

It's sad that you have to go through all the trouble to "buy" a bike in order to try it out, Jeremiah.  But that is what it seems to take to get to know a motorcycle before buying it.

No matter -- you haven't deminished my interest in the DL650, and I'm still interested in seeing you ride.  We'll have a lot to talk about -- the FZ-6 is second on my list -- a great machine in many ways.

See you Saturday.   :)

Thats very true. All my friends think i'm crazy for going through so many motorcycles but I often justify it by saying i'm really just going for a 1,000 mile test-drive

darb85

Think i could get that to work on the new street tripple?  that thing is awesome!
