Hey yall,

I got a 1965 Corvair Corsa.  Got the 140 engine, Bored .060 over, 3:55 gears Headers, Flowmasters,(sounds mean) Race carbs, High flow Air filters, Offy deep oil pan.  Offy valve Covers.  I just cant leave anything well enough alone.  Its pushing about 190 now as far as hp goes.  impressive gain from 140 if you ask me. Next step is the Cam, but i have to split the block for that so that may be a way out.  Its lowered big time got 205 50 15 yoko EVS100s up front and 225 50 15s out back.  Raked stance. 15 inch American Racing Torque Thrust IIs.  Poly Bushings, better handling, Flaming river Fast ratio steering box(3 turns lock to lock vrs 5, sucks in a parking lot though)  collapsable steering shaft.  1999 Grand Prix seats(soon to be replaced with recaro or Coreubus.  Schroth 3 point harnesses.  Quick Shift 4 speed. Fully rebuilt rear and front suspension.

I think thats it. ya I cant leave anything well enough alone

SO what you got? :thumb:

If you you call 78 a classic, I have a 78 Caprice classic 2 door arocoupe, carmel w/ camel tan and Light biege interior. original 350 runs strong with 160K in it. Only 1500 made that year and mine is #27. I paid $250 and wouldn't sell it.

It's the only thing I have not for sale.

'75 Chevy C10 shortbed.  Dropped 4/5", factory 454, bored to 460ci, factory 3.73 12-bolt.  Mild bolt ons, bumped up comp ratio.  Full Autometer setup inside, built a 2x10 box that filled every inch behind the seat.  Was fully resto'ed when I picked it up, I threw some money at it, and eventually it started knocking, so I sold it and moved to San Diego.

I'll have another, but it'll be 4x4 and have a blown/turbo'ed small block.

One of my girlfriends painted this for me while I was in the hospital to cheer me up:

i grew up muscle, my first love was a '50 stupidbaker bullet nose but i moved on to the 68 fastback mustang (i was 10 when i fell in love with the fastback, i don't remember when gone in 60 seconds came out but i know i was older than 10. but i remember how old i was when i saw my first fastback). then when i was 13 i was offered a spot as a pit-brat for a vintage bmw team. now nothing gets me wetter than a '72 BMW 2002 with full coilovers, bubble fenders, carbon fiber, rally 4's, dogleg 5spd and 3.73s and if it was mine it'd have an e28 m30 with the b35 intake, megasquirt and shortys runnin straight out the side.

go ahead, try to catch me in your american muscle. i've seen how it stands up to a "weeny" car like mine. sure it tears down the straight, but then it falls on its nose and loses it's rearend into turn one and the rest is history. mwahahahahaha

ok, so thats over-exaggerated. i have a lot of respect for american muscle, but its worthless off the strip. i drag raced a 72 cutlass w a 455 ford 9" with 4.11s and b&m rachet shift, plus cage, gutted, tubbed, 4link rear, cookie cutters and a massive intake in hs thanks to my amazing shop teacher (believe or not, there are some good shop programs left in this country, even in san diego) but i still prefer the itty bitty car that weighs nothing and sticks like flying glue. hence my love of motorcycles....

Id put my corvair up to that 2002 anyday.  SOme of the best track days in that thing have been when that club was on the track, I kept pissing em off cuz I could hang with them.  hell I lead till the last lap when I went wide in the final turn and the little bugger sprinted inside.  Chased him down, and he only won by about 3 feet.  so much fun!  I am suprised how ever that I was in the same class as them, It the rubber I run though.

Though what was even better, is getting invited to a vintage porsche club autocross and never getting invited back because i trounced every car there. A guy in a 924 got so pissed that he left right after my first run.

Man I love this car!

Dad has a 33 willys coupe and 34 chevy currently.. willys has a 502ci chevy in it  ;)  not "exactly" a street car but fun to cruise in.  the 34 chevy just has a mild 350 in it.  personally I have had 2 1966 mustangs and a 67 mercury comet cyclone in my time.

dang, i'd like to see that willys lined up with Pastrana's Torino 429...  My parents had a early 70's Torino when I was a kid with a 351 Cleveland in it, it was beast enough...  the 429 model is just crazy.

Used to be a Willys in my home town, was the only car I've ever seen that would pull the front tires off the ground on the street.

I had a corvette yellow 67 Ford Fairlane with a cammed 289 when I was a teenager, sold it after I rebuilt it, and I don't think I even have a photo

ah, but see darb, i'm a bit strange. if you whoop my a$$ i'll hi-5 you for a job well done. but IIRC corvairs are h6's, are they not? thus meaning you're not the large displacement muscle fiend but understand smaller can be better. and our 02s ran with shelbies, camaros, javalines, trans am cars of the late 60s early 70s. we were put in the wrong class but there was nothing else. our little beasts ran with the only other 2 02s in the circuit at the front of the the trans am class and ignored everyone else. but when we started lapping people, the muscle guys complained and one of our drivers actually got blacklisted thanks to a rich f*&k who couldn't handle his cougar complaining that our 135 car (we had 134 and 135, 5 was slower) pushed him off course. no marks anywhere, he just lost the rearend and no one saw enough of it to be sure. since that guy had more money and our driver was just a hired hand, he got the boot, permanently. how is that fair?

darb85

thats bs.  And yes the Corvair is a horizontaly opposed 6.  so ya, you really learn how to drive the wheels off it.  I get dominated at long strait courses but ill kill in a technical(now where have i heard that before.)  Oh and just for the record the 2002s are one of my favorite car, both to race and drive.
