I dunno if its other places or not but I noticed it a lot on cycletrader when looking for a bike.

They list the bike for like $2500 for a almost new R6 or simular bike when it should be around $4000+. The phone number in the ad either doesnt work or goes to someone who knows nothing about the bike and tells you its the wrong number, but the email works. (usually a AOL or hotmail or yahoo email address) The guy emails back and says he has moved to spain or portugal and you have to pay western union for the bike and he will ship it DHL to you. DONT DO IT! You will never see the money back or the bike. I've emailed about 4-5 of these ads for more info and to go look at the bike and all of them have been the same thing.

Just a heads up, if the deal sounds too good and they want money first or wont let you see it first etc, DONT DO IT!

Hey hey! I saw an ad on Cycletrader for an '02 GSXR 600 Telefonica that I wrote a guy about. It sounds like the same scam artist!!!! God damn I wanna tell this guy his SCAM is BUSTED! Take a look at the emails!!


First response to my initial inquiry sent through Cycletrader:

the bike has 4913 miles, and i'm selling it because I really need the money now, as my father has big health problems, so to get a fast ammount of money to resolve my problems this is the only way to do it: by selling my bike.  (SCAM ARTIST)

Yes, I am in Portugal, but if you are worried about the shipping taxes, then you should know that taxes are included in the bike's price doesn't matter where you are.

I saw another cycletrader scam about 3 weeks ago where the pictures posted of the bike (a TL1000R) were copied from a fairly well known tiller site. The ironic part is that he wrecked his tiller back in May and pictures of the crash were posted on his web site.

Yep I got images also, one has a pic of the tag but its backwards so dunno the state but could figure out the letters/numbers

I saw this on cycletrader.  Sounds suspicious to me.  Low low price, sob story, foreign license plate too.

compared to the R1 and GSXR1000 the Twin on the tiller makes the bike wider to fit it and the air intakes into the body. They have more frontal mass on them and arent as sleek as the I4 bikes.

The front may look wide but while seated they are much narrower than any I4. One great thing is the TLR doesn't look like all the cookie cutter I4's buzzing around. A V-twin engine will always be narrower than a comparable displacement I4. The TLR gas tank is wider than the frame.

Doesnt look too wide there, guess the tank and the front plastics make it look wider.


I cant agree with you on the twin vs the I4...I4 is a much sweeter sounding engine!

Sound is a personal opinion as well. The stock TLR exhaust does sound like crap. I have a full Yoshi which sounds great but the M4 sounds even better. The deep thump is addictive.
