A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter, at The Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, "What are all Those clocks?"

St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie, the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man pointing to the clocks at random, "whose clock is that?" "That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in His entire Life."

"Where's Hillary Clinton's clock?" asked the man.

St. Peter replied, "Hillary's clock is In Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

You know that's your future president you're talking about, right?

Between the Democratic sheep voting for her in the primaries, and the right-wing religious conservatives' apathy about the Republican candidates, and the general dissatisfaction with Bush, well, you do the math.  Hillary could be a bag of sand and get elected.  That might actually be preferable.

Would someone please explain to me why the right is so worried about Hillary?  Between painting her as a liberal (which she's not  --- she's as pro-corporate as they come) and vilifying her for the early 90's universal health care proposal (which polls clearly show the US public now wants), they have been sending "jokes" like this old one and non-factual stories about Hillary for years.

Does a woman with some brains and power really frighten the right that much?  And they especially seem fascinated by the fact that she wanted to keep her maiden name as her middle name (can you imagine the damage to society if everyone did that).  What does that say about the right?

I'd vote for Obama or Edwards over Hillary any day, BUT I'd vote for a can of tomato soup over any of the GOP candidates.  According to the polls, so would the American people...

Now, THERE'S a criteria for choosing a president.  He can act and his wife is hot.  I guess it beats "his last name is Bush," but not by much. :o

Actually Fred Thompson (and the rest of the GOP field) were losing to "none of the above" in last week's poll.  And Obama and Hillary were leading all of them soundly.

Ron Paul followed closely by O Bama. Must be the first time ever I would have sided with the same party as the incumbent ... however Ron Paul is refered to as the "Libertarian" by my repu"buick"an friends.

I voted for Ron Paul in 1984 when he was the libertarian party candidate.  I can't bring myself to vote for him as a Republican.  I've seen what Republicans have done for the last seven years.  (And during the Nixon, Reagan and Bush I years).  Not interested in more of that.  I do think Ron Paul is different, but he's still running as a Republican.

Hey, thanks for the link -- here's the opening to the first link that came up:
QuoteTHE UNITED STATES IS THE
only modern, industrialized
nation without some version of
universal access to healthcare
services. All other industrialized
countries have addressed the
policy and the financial challenges
of universal access
through a wide variety of methods.
Universal healthcare is
functioning in these countries
at a fraction of the spending
seen today in the United States.
On a per capita basis, the
next biggest spender after the
United States is Switzerland,
which spends only 68 percent as
much. Canada and the United
Kingdom spend 57 percent and
44 percent as much per capita as the United States. Despite
these differences, there is no
evidence to suggest that our
level of spending helps us
achieve the superior health
status of the Canadians,
Japanese and Europeans.

If you are worried about a single-payer system, you must not have spent as much time as I have dealing with insurance company people trying to get a legitimate claim paid.  And I'm one of the lucky ones with insurance.

Our current system is a disaster.  You should go watch Sicko if you think our system is fine as it is.

I've gotten health care in Canada and in the US...I prefer Canada...maybe back when their system first started their system wasn't the greatest, but they've shaped up.

Problem solver: Make all health insurance companies non-profits. Make all pharmaceuticals non-profits. Problem solved. Stop bribing doctors with vacations and samples and shaZam!...its  :bs: I don't want anything to do with our current system, and I'm one of the ones who doesn't have insurance (with a heart condition..I should be at the cardiologists every 3 months but I'm not because I can't afford it) I remember thinking as I was wrecking, please god don't let me get hurt and live cause theres no way I can pay for it. I had spent the last $8 I had on gas to get to that job. Had I been hurt, I wouldn't have been able to work. That would have been horrible. I was so lucky to walk away. I pray everyday for a new job with insurance so I can just make sure that I'm not gonna kick off here one day. But I doubt I'd even get approved for insurance right now considering I have a pre-existing condition...our system is crap. Someone needs to do something...anything to make it better..doctors shouldn't be allowed to refuse you treatment because you can't pay them..
