i put a new chain on you may remember my last post the guy that was helping me screwed up the chain and i had to put two master links in. well the second master link that i put on is no not letting the chain bend. it makes a popping sound on the front sprocket when the clutch is engaged and when rolling the bike in neutral. now i know this isnt good but the question is how bad is it? if i was to keep riding on it for another week will it cause any real damage or or just keep making noise.

Interesting question.

There's no way you can free it up, huh?  Can you take the link apart again and lube the rings, rollers (et al) so it'll roll over the sprockets?

If I were you I wouldn't ride with a suspect chain.  There is a lot of stress imparted on the drive mechanism -- engine HP and rolling resistance.  I'd get another chain and try it again.

If anything, you probably don't want 2 master links side by side in series. You may want to cut the chain in a 2nd spot adjacent in the loop and put the 2nd link there. Just a thought.

As I recall that was a new DID o-ring chain and you were going to use a single inner link that was cut from the cut off part of the same chain between the two master links.  Seems there is no problem with the master link that came with the chain.

Where did you get the 2nd master link, is it a DID o-ring type complete with o-rings and grease packet?  Did the master link slide in easily and turn freely when you assembled it?  Could be it was a master link intended for use with a standard non o-ring chain.  Put it together without the o-rings and see if it turns freely, better to use it that way for a week than to have it binding.  If you can't free it up it might be better to use the master link from the old chain you removed for a week while you get the right one to replace it.

i got the new master link from the dealer. it is a o ring masterlink but i am guessing that it makes a difference since its not a DID master link. i will probably go order one here in the next couple of days.
