Hey I recently registered, however I have been lurking this site for a couple of years now  :icon_razz:, I do not own a GS yet but I have a question.

My friend recently seized the motor on his 04 gs, and It got put into my father in laws storage garage. I stripped it down and found the left connecting rod bearing had basically shattered due to lack of oil, and responsibility of the owner :dunno_white:. Im going to rebuild it by getting new bearings, seals, and piston rings. But not sure what price to offer. I've done all of the work on it so far and have put my own money for the tools. He still owes 1056 on it to a private seller, so until thats paid the title is in there hands. I dont think i should have to pay the 1056 to get the title.

He stopped caring about the GS after he bought an 06 hyosung 650, but hit a dodge durango a month later. So now his focus is on getting the 650 back on the street. This kid has no luck, and I think the smart thing for him to do would be to get the GS off his hands.

Thanks in advance for the replies  ;)

for 1056, I would have to see it.  If everything but the engine is in nice shape then it sounds like a reasonable price.   But, if there are any signs of the beatings ( scratch marks, etc....)  I would offer less. :dunno_white:

Welcome.

I would tell the title holder what has happened to the engine and offer them $900 cash.If they want give, tell them you'll put a lien against the title since you have been given the responsiblity of repairing the bike.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

Welcome!!  :thumb:

Personally, I'd probably be happy to get the bike for the cost of the title and then put it back on the road myself (but keep in mind this is coming from someone who paid $200 for her beloved '90 GSrat, and said beloved rat sits forlorn in a corner).  :icon_mrgreen:

Thanks for the replies so far. I havent put really any money into the engine yet, just about 60 bucks in tools I didnt already have to disasemble the engine. Im not putting money into it until its mine. A grand is a good deal for the bike, its an 04 yellow and black with 15000 miles. Technically it could be less than 20 bucks to fix the problem, but to save time in the future I would replace all the bearings, seals, and rings. The body work has some scuffs, its been down in the grass a few times (he loves to stunt) Before it seized he got a new battery, chain, sprockets, and rear tire. So thats would be a big plus. I also think there is a crack on the right front where a car backed into it in a parking lot. The tank is in great condition. I really want to buy the bike for my g/f to get her attention off of my 06 ninja  :icon_mrgreen:! I just didnt want to spend a grand because I was starting to look into a vehicle with four wheels--I've been riding soley on two wheels since I turned 16, so about three years this month.

THanks AGain.

You seem very mature for your tender years!  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: You can always try picking up an older, used GS, too. Then when she drops the Baby G, it won't hurt so much..... not that I know much about dropping bikes....  :icon_mrgreen:
