Ok, finally installed.  I relented and took the muffler to Midas and had them weld on a new bit of pipe after the 2-to-1 and expand that to 2-1/8" to fit the slip-on.  Cost me $30.  Also, it's aluminized steel pipe, so I need to paint it to match the black header.  The can does look gorgeous, and sounds wonderful, too, so at least some good came of this.

The moral of the story is:  if you have an 05-07, it fits with no problem.  If you have an 04, it may or may not (someone, anyone, is your 04 exhaust midpipe 1.75" or 2-1/8"?).  And if you have an older GS, you will need to make your stock midpipe wider.  Your options are:

1)  Make a reducer bushing ( a sleeve that fits over the old one and fits into the new one).

2)  Buy a reducer pipe from an auto parts store and have two clamps (one for the reducer to the stock pipe, and the second for the slip-on to the reducer).

3)  Get some exhaust shop to adapt yours (like I did)

4)  Don't buy it (the cheapest option)

Also, on the naked models, it looks kinda odd with the stainless to black transition along the pipe.  On a faired model, the black is mostly covered up, but on the naked it's plain to see.

Anyway, pics and video with sound to come soon.
